>Before SRS, was there an anti-transexual movement at all on reddit? I mean, obviously the r/whiterights/stormfront types hated on them, but they hate on everyone. So my question is, before SRS started this "treat everyone equally or fuck you" campaign, were there groups being formed with the sole purpose of trolling or worse behavior towards, specifically, transexual redditors?

I haven't been on reddit long enough to answer, but I will say this. The overwhelming majority of the transphobia I see on this site "feels" reactionary - it's not so much "I hate trans people" as it is "fuck those trans people because SRS said some ridiculously hateful things to me and SRS claims to be trans". The irony, of course, is that SRS is overwhelmingly white, middle-class, and cis - they might imply that they're trans in the hopes of gaining legitimacy, but they're not the ones getting hit back. Fuck, they still think Andrea Dworkin is a good person, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who did more to oppress transpeople in order to further their own ego.

>I know some people in those groups, and we all have different reasons for hating on SRS. I hate them because I'm disabled and I'll be goddamned if anyone is going to stand up and say I deserve to be treated with little kid gloves because of it. I have nothing against transsexuals, and before SRS I had never gotten into an arguement with one.

Heh, I can empathize. SRSers have frequently told me that I'm not capable of being racist, as my race is too weak and powerless to accomplish such a feat. They really have no idea how tremendously condescending it is, and how ridiculously racist the idea that only white people can be powerful really is. The racism doesn't really bother me, but I find it especially grating how proud they are of themselves for their bigotry.

>So if the non-organized bullshit towards minorities and sexually-oppressed members of the reddit community led to organized resistance in the form of SRS, the only possible response is that their "enemies" will organize as well, which leads us to where we are today.

I get that, and it's reasonable to expect hate groups opposed to SRS to organize against them. What irritates me is that real life isn't some bullshit dichotomy where you either want to murder all minorities or you stand with SRS and all the horrendous shit that they've done. My understanding is that most of the larger groups opposed to SRS claim that they're actually pro-equality, objecting only to the sleazy things that SRS does in the name of equality. Still, despite the fact that they're opposing a group that routinely ridicules minorities who they don't agree with, constantly engages in slut-shaming, and has even encouraged a person they believed to be suicidal to kill themselves and openly rejoiced when they thought he was dead it irritates me that it so rapidly turns into "hur dur look this woman has hairy legs that's like what I think an SRSer would look like cause they're ugly".

SRS managed to paint themselves as trans allies. There really are a lot of trans* SRSers though. I know because I've tagged them all and I frequently see them on the trans* subreddits: a vote count of -10 and SRS tags.

The trans* forums in general have a feminist tone, they link transphobia and cissexism to misogyny and "the patriarchy". I'm not entirely sure why. I could only speculate it's because trans women vehemently rejected the male gender role or maybe experienced hate and bullying for being effeminate.

SRS started out being a game subreddit where they posted quotes that were either from Reddit or Stormfront, so probably.

Oh. I have no idea if there were entire subreddits. I started going to Reddit around 2008, and it was so much smaller than it is now. All the kewl kids were still at Digg.

It wasn't like an organized group, just people in various subs they responded to.

People have been telling SRS that for some time now too. They have just been shitting all over themselves at yelling and at everyone else how shitty their behaviour is.

There weren't any specific subreddits that lasted any length of time that I can remember them but there were a few users that followed links from transphobia project to troll discussions, ionbeam2 comes to mind. The crosslinking bots weren't really a thing at the time so there wasn't as much potential for reactionary users to get together

Also die cis scum hadn't happened and Laurlai wasnt quite so infamous but the general trend of transphobia in the default subs has lessened somewhat or at least moved to the meta subs
