You know why people say that?
Because after hearing so many "you bought your friends", "all of you are bunch of douche-bros", "rapists in waiting pop collared fuckers", etc... you get sick of it.
You don't want to argue the merits of why you did it, because that person is not going to listen. You don't want to change their mind, because you already know you can't so you just shut them up. I loved my experience in my fraternity. It gets annoying as hell to hear this shit all the time on reddit though.

Following someone around scolding them for something that has nothing to do with what they have posted is wrong. You've told the guy what you think of his name. He knows how you feel. He knows why you feel it.
Doing it every time he posts is harassment, and it's not OK for the same reason that me responding to every post you make from now on with "Oh, it's Mr. Harasser posting again, the JERK" would be wrong.

I gotta ask dude, I don't really care nor did I know what the fuck a moon cricket was until two minutes ago, but why keep it as your username?
Cause when I first heard of it the first thing that went into my head was actual crickets on the moon just chirping like motherfuckers looking back at Earth while they sat on the moon (I know you wouldn't be able to hear them since there is no atmosphere). I also know it is a slur but it is the dumbest one I have ever heard so I used it because it is ridiculous.
Also with the name you can bait out people like /u/SpermJackalope and /u/shutupclarence who instead of looking at your comments and judging the character they go off and attack based on a username alone.
It is nothing malicious, but the idea of moon crickets is hysterical, both the slur since it is so dumb, and the thought of crickets on the moon.
