Like three days ago there were two top posts in aww, and both of them were just like this, but with men. Big smiling stupid boys just having fun with their pets.
I wanted to make a note of them next time this shit pops up, but figured I was just being stupid. But seriously, neither pic had a single person mentioning the gender or anything.
It's just so blatantly hypocritical.
These type of threads are posted to SRD frequently now. A couple of weeks back on SRD, a girl posted a pic with her face included and people posted evidence of guys posting pics on Reddit with their face included to show how sexist this site is. But they unintentionally showed even with the guys, there were plenty of comments about how unnecessary it was to include their faces.
It happens to plenty, regardless of their gender.
It never happens. If you're bored, try to find similar pictures from men and women and just look at the differences in the comments.
Here's 1 example eventhough "it never happens."

A minute maybe. I just posted one example because you proclaimed it never happens. I don't know what you expect but I'm not going to look up every picture on Reddit with a woman's and man's face in it then tally up the negative comments. You're going to believe what you believe and I'm not going to attempt the impossible task of changing it.
In op's picture she was most likely taking a selfie when the cat made that face or it was just more convenient to use the front camera with her in shot than reposition to have the back camera to take the picture of the cat. the example you supplied can not make either excuse, clearly putting himself in frame as the main focal point

I've seen a few people make a passing comment about how SRD turned into SRS, with one guy even suggesting trying out a new subreddit called the popcorn stand or something. I guess it really is true.
