Actually, it does matter. The fact that you used that word is 100% of the problem, and exactly what I was trying to address: You and others like you are confusing something that is completely harmless - reviewing someone's public post history - with something that is a serious criminal act.

Stalking is a term that has an actual definition (a legal one), and you don't know what it is. Because you're ignorant.
Nevertheless, I doubt any reasonable person would agree that reading someone's public post history is "stalking," and I know that no legal authority would say it was.
Excuse me while I go read Twitter and Facebook. But I'm not going to click on anyone's profile and read any prior posts, because if I go five minutes back in their post history, I'm STALKING, according to idiots. Wouldn't want the FBI kicking my door in!

Following someone in public places has an effect on them because they know you're doing it and being with them in person means you can attack them and all sorts.
Checking post history has no effect because they have no idea you're doing it unless you tell them. Also even if you tell them you aren't there physically to be a threat.
