I don't understand why everyone in that thread is so nasty. If you're born with a penis and male genes you're a man, it's not like you can change that. You're free to do all the physical and hormonal modifications you want but at the end of the day your chromosomes are going to be unchanged, and that's what counts. I don't care what people do to their bodies, it's their body, but they can't also expected to be entitled for me to play along with their new pronouns and stuff. You can call yourself a wolfman and grow your hair out and chisel your teeth but you're still a regular human underneath all of it.

Proceeds to write paragraph predicated on caring.

I meant that as in I don't care what they do with their body as long as they don't expect me to treat them specially.

Nobody expects you to treat them special, they expect you to behave with a little bit of basic human decency. If you can't do that, keep your trap shut so you don't make a fool of yourself.

Really, I'm the fool because I think it's dumb to call a man, "she?"

Look, I know reddit is full of teenagers that haven't discovered the world yet so let me give you some advice:

I help run a small company, nothing fancy but it's important we maintain a decent reputation. If one of our male employees made a fuss because a customer didn't want to call him "her" he would be written up for being unprofessional. If he made the fuss actually in front of a customer than he would terminated immediately, with profuse apologies to the customer by his immediate manager.

Your concept of "human decency" is horrendously misaligned.

Take all those words you just wrote, copy them into Word and change the font to Impact, 72pt. Then print it out, roll up those papers niiice and tight, and fuck yourself with it. That's my reply to you.

And if you did that in the real world and not reddit "you're fired, get out of here" would be the reply back.

Hey, what state are you in?

That could get you in a shit lot of legal trouble in a number of states. Just so you know.

(Less than half of all states at this point, but hopefully that will change to be more as time goes by)

Pretty ironic to see the reddit teenager telling an adult businessman to grow up.

Well Mr. SS Nazi, whenever I see anyone having to whip out their business-owning dick to make an argument it just becomes obvious they have a lot of growing up to do.

Oh by the way same advice goes for you. Grow up.

Says a lot about your attitude that those younger than you are being more mature about this than you, huh?

Look, I know you think calling other people teenagers for having the ability to show an ounce of human decency will mask your teenager-like lack of empathy, but let me give you some advice: it's not.

But you are treating specially. You are disrespecting them in a way you don't disrespect anyone else. Or do you go around misgendering cis people?

> but they can't also expected to be entitled for me to play along with their new pronouns and stuff.

So you also refuse to call people by their nicknames, right? And if someone requests that you call them Mr. or Mrs. Whatever, you ignore it and call them by their first name? Because if you do either one of those things (out of, you know, basic human politeness) but can't possibly be bothered to refer to someone with the pronouns they prefer, you're a hypocrite. And probably an ass.

You obviously don't know about chromosomal anomalies like CAIS where a woman is XY, but born (For the most part) completely female.

So, there's plenty to be said about your chromosomes argument that would lead to a whole lot of people talking over each other and increasing use of caps lock, but i want to speak to:

>but they can't also expected to be entitled for me to play along with their new pronouns and stuff.

See, I think this is the attitude that leads to comments like the one linked here. And it misses the fact that, to any trans person (since I think it's safe to say you don't know any) your opinion doesn't matter.

Just like you don't care what say, I think of you, they don't care what you think them. They're not out to change the way you feel or get you to do anything, they're just out to live life.

They only start caring when you act like COUCHSURFING_RAPIST here and decide everyone needs to know that *you* don't think so-and-so should be allowed to be called a woman (or man).

I mean hell, look at that comment. What's the point of that? What was he trying to say there, other than "I disapprove"? Who cares that he disapproves? How is he important in any way at all? His approval has nothing to do with what that threads about, but he still buts in and people are surprised when others don't take kindly to that.

If he hadn't decided to chime in with that completely pointless comment he could have gone on thinking that transwomen should never be called anything other than men and no one would have cared.

so tl;dr, the way you feel doesn't matter to anyone until you try and make other people pay attention to it.

I don't know. I'd be willing to bet OP has met/been around at least one trans person without realizing it. Apparently OP doesn't realize that not everyone is as vocal/open about their trans status as Laverne Cox--and many pass completely.

Except you can.

No it doesn't.

>but they can't also expected to be entitled for me to play along with their new pronouns and stuff.

You already do, you speak with transgender people all the time, and you respect their pronouns without even realizing it.

[ x ] outs poster as being an inconsiderate prick

[ x ] throws in a bad strawman analogy at the end

[ x] is SubredditDramaDrama

> You're free to do all the physical and hormonal modifications you want but at the end of the day your chromosomes are going to be unchanged, and that's what counts.

The only thing the Y chromosome does is generating testes and genitals, and the hormones the testes produce: so remove the testes, give female hormones instead, and the chromosomes become completely irrelevant. This actually happens naturally: there are some people with XY chromosomes that are women because something happened during gestation so that testes weren't developed, and are otherwise exactly like XX women, so if you met one you wouldn't say that "chromosomes are what matter".

Men and women share the most part of their biological machinery, and most of the differences are directed by hormones, so changing biological sex is possible. Changing species obviously isn't(not with current medical technology at least). Of course hormones at birth don't have the same effect as hormones fed later, but the point still stands that it makes little sense to consider transitioned trans women men biologically, or viceversa.
