Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra does AMA but it doesn't go as planned. She abandons ship when it's downvoted to zero and she doesn't receive the questions she wants. (self.SubredditDrama)

So I'm no expert in regards to Bollywood, but a quick look at her post tells you that she's an actress, singer and former Miss World.
She responds to a few questions to start with. Nothing too bad. E.g.
What came first for you? Acting or singing?
Then the witch hunt begins. Now, I'm not saying that Chopra is a wonderful person (I hadn't even heard of her name until today) but I feel like Reddit took it a bit too far.
Auto-tune comments that look like something straight out of /r/lewronggeneration
Comments about homosexuality in India
Guy makes a joke about her going to school. She calls him a hater
Guy questions why a road in India was named after her father
This post in /r/india provides good background as to why people were so angry about it. Here it is
There is a recurring theme of cosmetic creams that constantly seems to arise in a few comment chains. They regard Chopra's promotion of "Fair and Lovely" which is a product that can supposedly change the pigmentation of your skin and make it whiter. Here's an ad for it
EDIT: Apparently this was the last part of a series of ads. Here is /u/Land-O-Lurks summary of what happens just to give you guys more info.
>Haha yeah, I'd never heard of her until now. The AMA did inspire me to watch all of her skin cream commercials though, pretty fucked up haha. A 5 part series that involved 1) Guy breaks up with girl 2) Guy starts dating girl who is whiter 3) Girl uses whitening cream 4) Guy sees her, dumps gf, goes back to her 5) Happy ever after?
Here's a question regarding that.
How important is auto-tune in your singing career?
Digging through and all I'm finding is comments about skin creams, autotunes, roads being named after dads, bad singing and not being talented.
A few comments about the AMA being done by her PR Reps which is interesting. This article seems to be right in saying that it was most likely Priya due to the amount of spelling and gramatical errors. I feel as if a PR team wouldn't let that happen
/r/india took an interest in the AMA and there are already posts about it on there front page.
Comments in response to an article about it
A few more articles about it are still sitting on top of the front page.
One guy suggests that maybe it wasn't ok
Another /r/India user reveals that many accounts that asked questions were made today.
Interesting evidence for it being done by the PR team. However, I think it was linked on twitter which could explain the influx of accounts.
So the road thing was mentioned before. This post in /r/india provides good background as to why people were so angry about it. Here it is
No official statement from her or her people. This is pretty weird considering that half of reddit didn't know who she was yesterday. I feel as if /r/india are responsible for a hell of a lot of downvotes and comments in that thread but I can't be sure tbh.

Who's advocating for genocide on /r/India? Would love to see some examples.
I'm not going to go digging up but I can tell you what to search for.
There was a post linked to bestof which was brigaded by /r/India which was basically OP describing how killing non-Hindus in stages would be better for the well being of /r/India.
Someone posted a TIL in /r/India about some Hindu mythology where the gods raped or molested someone? Now since /r/India has a lot of right wing Hindus, he was threatened and death threats were flying around like candy.
Most recently, someone on Facebook posted an offensive picture of a Hindu icon or god, not sure which. That guy was dragged out on the street and murdered. Yes, that's right. The comments on that news article linked to /r/India were basically 'Serves him right, he shouldn't have dared. That'll teach them a lesson.'
Then there's the everyday genocidal talk that was constant this whole year because of elections. Search for these terms and you'll get right into those threads.
kulcha warriors, porkistanis, sickular
So umm, yeah I'm not going into the sub.
> Most recently, someone on Facebook posted an offensive picture of a Hindu icon or god, not sure which. That guy was dragged out on the street and murdered. Yes, that's right. I completely agree about /r/india being a load of shit, but this is absolutely untrue. None of the comments, except a few heavily downvoted ones said 'serves him right'.
The figure (won't name him - my state may arrest me :|) was also a very regional icon, so you wouldn't really see all of /r/india getting upset about it.
Edit: oh, okay, I missed /u/rahulthewall's comment. Sorry.
What comment of mine did you miss? I agree with you here, all the shit comments that said "serves him right" (and there were not many of those to begin with) were downvoted. The person you are replying to is convinced that /r/India is shit and will not believe otherwise.
Here you go, he posted this.
He was still downvoted, I was appalled because he had 5-6 upvotes. However, his opinion was unpopular.
Reddit fudges (or used to, thanks admins!) the up/downvotes. You should go tell the guy this, he's citing you everywhere.
Where is he citing me, I was a bit liberal with my usage there. However, one stupid comment in 300+ comments does not mean that /r/india advocates genocide.
I agree. And this kind of thinking happens a lot on reddit. There are nutjobs everywhere, but that doesn't really reflect on a sub or reddit as a whole. I subbed /r/india and didn't find it that offensive. I didn't dig deep, but then I don't tend to on most subs. There be monsters there.
ignore him, he must be some idiot from /r/IndianLeft . maybe /u/indianleft himself
when you are claiming something you need to provide proof man
edit spelling
You are making assumptions enough to make biased declarations, the assumption being reddit is the mecca of popular culturally enlightened groups giving out mantra of future and unfairly comparing india against mainly good aspects of your community . I have been regular on r/india for few years it's just hive behavior not based on any objectivity. I have seen really good posters as in any real world they are few in numbers. You are being judgemental to a little extent. India is a young nation coming out of lot of cultural repression and struggle. After decades of living here I still cannot quite make out what makes indians tick and i am a part of that clockwork my best objective opinion is its an average joe kinda place in today's world equal parts of shittiness with the good parts.
>There was a post linked to bestof which was brigaded by /r/India[1] which was basically OP describing how killing non-Hindus in stages would be better for the well being of /r/India[2] .
Haven't seen this one in particular. I think you should link me to it or give me at least some search keys that you think would be useful in digging up that thread.
>Someone posted a TIL in /r/India[3] about some Hindu mythology where the gods raped or molested someone? Now since /r/India[4] has a lot of right wing Hindus, he was threatened and death threats were flying around like candy.
Religion is a messed up thing, whether Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism or something else. In terms of mythological content, Hinduism is comparable to the pagan religions of ancient Greece and Rome. Let the people decry things, but fact of the day is that it is a very "liberal" (i.e. depending on which school of thought you ultimately follow) and heavily evolving culture. Don't forget that it is the loudest who are noticed, and like any other religion, Hindu fanatics will be the loudest members of the community.
>Most recently, someone on Facebook posted an offensive picture of a Hindu icon or god, not sure which.** That guy was dragged out on the street and murdered.** Yes, that's right. The comments on that news article linked to /r/India[5] were basically 'Serves him right, he shouldn't have dared. That'll teach them a lesson.'
The part in bold is a lie. He was walking on the street and some hardliners who identified him attacked and murdered him.
As far as I know, police were prompt to act on the case and the leader of the outfit behind this killing was arrested in a week, if not in days. That's actually a very quick response from a normally sluggish police force overburdened by the large population.
>Then there's the everyday genocidal talk that was constant this whole year because of elections. Search for these terms and you'll get right into those threads.
>kulcha warriors, porkistanis, sickular
I don't know if you actually know of the context of these terms being spoken. For those who do not know, I'll just explain -
It should be obvious that the community makes fun of both sides.
tl;dr- Instead of talking like a stuck-up and perhaps ignorant person, try to put things in perspective and then form an opinion.
I'm not even going to bother any correcting this. So inaccurate.
Really irresponsible of you to put up a comment like this, most people wouldn't bother to crosscheck.
Your asshole must be really distended from pulling this log of shit out.
It is actually. I'm thinking of applying Vaseline generously.
Any other creams in mind?
Yes, a thick coating of zandu baam on your aandu will help distract from the soreness.
Wow, sounds a lot like you were pulling crap out of your ass. I want to see one link posted in connection to your posts where the offending comment was in the positive.
Also people use kulcha ironically to mock people who preach about Indian culture. Indians are not fans of Pakistanis, yeah this is news and calling them porkistanis = wanting to genocide them. Sickular is also a synonym for genocide right?
You just hyperbolic and got caught in your shit. If there are racist, discriminatory posts they get downvoted. You won't find top comments advocating genocide anywhere on /r/India, so get off your nonsense homie.
Oh fuck off. You want to defend /r/India, do it. This is what I've seen, I've seen it upvoted and usually stay in top comments until SRD links to it.
I ain't changing my stance because a bunch of people from /r/India want to strong arm me.
You have such a victim complex it is stunning.
He might, but your posting history is giving him more proof that it is occurring.
Lol. So this guy visciously attacks a sub and some members show up to defend it. And you call that strong arming and brigading?
And what about my history?
Your posts make you look like an extremely angry individual.
Thank you for diverting the topic. Instead of addressing it.
Also I can say the same about you.
According to reddit you and your fellow r/india brethren are getting are on the losing side of this battle. I don't need to continue making fun of your arguments when everyone else has done it for me.
You really don't know when you are beaten do you?

This is literally brigading.
You're in there, brownhops is in there, and then you two decided to come in here and start downvoting and comments.
If you weren't brigading and were actually a part of SRD you'd know we use np links because what you're doing gets subs banned and users shadowbanned.
I was here before I posted there. I am subscribed to srd.
So you understand the gravity of creating witch hunt links like that.
Odd that you didn't see the need to tell that OP what he did is breaking site wide rules...

I don't give a shit about what you think of the sub or whatever. This is reddit, it's your right to be as wrong as you want. Just don't preach bs and then get offended when you're called out on it.
Offended? Lol, this is SRD.
I'm not preaching bs, that's the kind of subreddit /r/India is. Don't get offended when people call oranges oranges.
You can't repeat the same thing over and over again without PROOF. If it's obvious and clear then it shouldn't take you too long to find some examples that fit your viewpoint that /r/India advocates genoicde. I'll wait.
I literally just replied to another comment of yours with a link to a mod talking about the shit that was Upvoted to the top in the thread...
http://np.reddit.com/r/india/comments/279bu5/muslimtechiebeatentodeathinpune7men_of/chyprtu
So your example is a deleted post? Very enlightening.
You said give me proof, I gave you a comment by the subreddit's mod. What more do you want?
I don't have time to waste on you right wing kids.

instead of pulling all the crap can you post links to the comments you mentioned pls
Just did a quick search. About your comment on the Muslim person's death being celebrated. http://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/279bu5/muslimtechiebeatentodeathinpune7men_of/
Yeah people really happy there.
Here's a mod's comment talking about the shit that was Upvoted there before the commenter himself deleted it.
You're fighting a losing fight defending them.
The same mod is denying this; he said there was one comment with some five upvotes and a massively negative net score. Your point being?
Paging /u/rahulthewall.
I replied to him, for the record when I said:
>A "prod kulcha warriror" spewed worse nonsense here, was even up voted generously. He has since deleted his comments, but the vote count will still show you the positives.
I meant that the vote count (via RES) will show you the upvotes he received. I did not mean that his comment was net positive (though my language usage was not clear there and I can see how it can be misconstrued).
Yes, but even RES didn't used to receive the true upvotes. It's likely that he didn't receive any, and what you saw were the fudged results.
Yes, that is very much possible. I have been in /r/India for 5 years and the general consensus has never supported genocide. That is a very depressing and dishonest lie to peddle around.
Yeah, and it's not like you're a nutjob like most of the subreddit either (there's a lot of nutjobs, let's be honest); you're at +26 on my RES right now, and I've seen you downvoted plenty for some sane opinions, too.
Saying that everyone's all aboard the genocide bandwagon is ridiculous, though.
My point being that it's pretty common to see that kind of shit in /r/India.
That mod goes with the flow, that's not my problem.
No, that was not your point. I agreed with everything you said about /r/india being racist, xenophobic, overwhelmingly nationalistic and all of that.
But it is not pretty common to see that kind of shit there. You cited the mod as proof that it is common. The mod is denying what you said when you cited him for chrissake.
Mod in question here, one comment in a 300+ thread that initially received some upvotes doesn't imply that /r/india advocates genocide. It received a bunch of upvotes (but also a lot of downvotes) and the comment did not represent popular opinion.
Check the scores on the thread now, bullshit opinions have been downvoted.
They were downvoted after they were called out.
But they were called out by users of /r/India. How do we advocate genocide if we call out people advocating genocide?
How about this?
http://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/24l1xi/3attacksin24hoursbodomilitantsmassacre23/
Now of course, the subreddit wouldn't nearly be as shitty if you decided to actually moderate, lol.
And you would have an argument if you at least read the link you posted. There are a couple of disgusting comments there, but as always, they are at the bottom of the page.

You have lost. Please stop bullshiting and spreading misleading information.
Ok bro
I visit /r/India regularly. I don't remember seeing any of those (at least not among the highly up voted ones.). Even if they do exist, I am pretty sure that there are comments right below them condemning them. Are there crazies in /r/India? sure. But there are also a lot of sane people. Stop writing one sided shit posts.
You're a 7 day old account. I've been browsing that sub for 2-3 years.
Am I jaded against that sub? Sure, won't even deny it. Doesn't mean what I said is false.
What you said is exactly why I unsubscribed from r/India.
Man these /r/india guys are brigading all the negative india stuff so hard. This is why blind nationalism is a bitch.
Dude he is getting up voted heavily. If anything it is people blindly agreeing with whatever he says even though he provides no proof. The anti India circlejerk is strong here.
Dude, this has nothing to do with nationalism. I am vehemently against patriotism or any such flimsy ideals. But what this guy is saying is full of lies. /r/india doesn't "regularly advocate genocide". He hasn't provided any link for his claims.
You know what, he's right. I don't really like that sub, it's hateful, xenophobic, and racist at best. But saying that they "regularly advocate genocide" is ridiculous. It just doesn't happen, and is downvoted rapidly if it does.
As a left-winger I am not a fan of that sub either. But I care about truth more than any damn ideal.
Pfft. Indians practically wrote the book on blind nationalism!
Evil white bastards never want to see India succeed it's all their fault I tell you.
I recycle my accounts every couple of months. I have been browsing that sub for around 6 months. I don't remember seeing any of those during that time-frame.
Here's the proof.
http://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/24l1xi/3attacksin24hoursbodomilitantsmassacre23/
>this is what the history has taught me an act by a select few minority is gonna affect the majority unless and untill they start condemning and removing these elements. its the communities fault for harbouring such elements and they will pay the price.
>If the human race is destroying the world, are its progeny exempt from retaliation? Does the anger of nature spare children?
>Similar logic dude. God willing, they had a painless death in comparison with their karma. Don't get so stupidly oversentimental.
http://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/24l1xi/3attacksin24hoursbodomilitantsmassacre23/ch8a6d9
Go read those comments. The downvoted one's. They will make you sick.

http://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/24jtlf/indiaisonendawillnotworkforhindus_or/ch817e8
Go search any muslim thread there. It's pretty anti-muslim.
/r/india is pretty much anti-muslim and pro-hindutva. Many hypocrites there.
They call all muslims terrorists and yet when some subreddit calls indians rapists they suddenly get defensive and tell them not to generalize.
I don't really understand why you're using downvoted comments as an example of how the whole subreddit is bad when the replies to your linked comments are calling them out.
If the comments were downvoted, how does it prove that /r/India is a bigoted sub? At least use some semblance of logic.
