If you make someone believe that their child is dead you deserve whatever happens to you.

You deserve to get slapped, kicking someone in the balls is a huge no-no.

As a parent and a dude, I would rather be kicked in the balls every day for a year than experience the raw terror that mother must have experienced. The reaction was completely in-line with the action that caused it. He has zero room to complain (not that I see the pranker complaining about his balls).

It's sort of interesting that you can very obviously tell who is a parent and who is not here, even without anyone mentioning it.

I'm an idiot and childless, but even I know better than to joke about bringing harm to someone's kids.

Yeah, it is common sense. I just mean the difference in the people the people going "Eh, she totally overreacted. Jokes are harmless" and those saying "You should probably be glad you're in a Motel 6 and not the ICU."

I'm a married parent. I would do this prank and know that my wife would not overreact in the way you guys are.

It's very context sensitive. If you are already a joker it should be fine. If you're not then this is an overreach for your first time.

Similarly if you are a top dad this is fine. If you are a deadbeat dad this is not cool.

It's all about the wife's expectations.

I agree with the gist of what you're saying, but it does seem to be something that would be a little overboard even for a regular prankster, to be honest.

I could probably justify kicking someone in the nuts over my cat. Honest. Like I have panic attacks about my cat sometimes. Nightmares where I wake up feeling like the world has ended because I dreamt something happened to him, someone killed him. Maybe I left the door unlocked when I drove up to see my girlfriend and someone broke in and left the door open and my cat got out and got hit by a car. I don't know. Stupid fucking panic attacks because you care so damn much about a living thing whose well-being is entirely your responsibility.

Yeah, I'd could see physically assaulting someone in just mad terror and grief if they just told me that they killed my cat. My cat. I don't know what I'd do if I had an actual child. Probably level a block with dirty bombs.

Anyways, I'd say that telling someone that you killed their kid or their dog or something is pretty much on level with a violent act. Not saying that disproportionate reactions are kosher, but they should be totally expected. Can't you die from panic attacks and heart attacks and stuff caused by intense shock, anyway?

What I'm really getting at is that pranking someone like that is fucking awful. That's not a practical joke, it's causing intense emotional pain and panic for your own amusement. What the fuck is wrong with the person who thinks that's cool?

> kicking someone in the balls is a huge no-no.

He made her believe that her child was dead.....

She can, in no way, be held responsible for her actions at that point.

Right, so if she murdered him right there she wouldn't be responsible?

I think an argument could be made in court for temporary insanity due to extreme emotional distress.

The argument would be made. Would it be accepted? I sure hope not.

Edit: I should clarify, though, because we're getting off on a legal tangent, whereas I'm talking about morally. She doesn't have a blanket removal of responsibility for all of her actions. Some of them, yes.

Why would you ask a question and not wait for an answer?

> I sure hope not.

So you're not interested in justice, then. You're interested in revenge. If you were interested in justice, you'd reserve judgment until a psychological evaluation was done to establish her mental state at the time of the hypothetical crime.

It's not about justice or revenge, it's about security. If somebody is unstable enough that a prank in (very, VERY) poor taste is enough to make them commit murder, they're a threat.

Are you under the impression that insanity gets you totally off the hook for a crime or something?

Disagree. Dude deserves a kick in the balls every day for the next year. Then, he will be at a point at which the debt he owes is wife is forgivable.

This is easily the most cruel "prank" that I've ever heard of. I'm hoping it's a hairy load of bullshit.

When it comes right down to it, the truth is we just hate balls here in /r/SubredditDrama. Mushy, sweaty, stinky, just sitting there looking like hot bubblegum on a barber shop floor. We like to kick men in the balls whenever we get the chance, which is sadly never often enough. When we have our annual SRD meetup, we like to eat balls. You've never lived until you've had a taste of /u/TheLadyEve's Texas-style mountain oysters. It'll make you want to slap your momma, or more likely, it'll make you want to kick your father in the balls.

Balls and foreskin: the devil's combo. Take both at birth.
