Wow, that's a lot of downvotes. Usually you don't see anything get that low unless they were personally attacking someone or making a homophobic/racist remark.
But, well, this seems like a classic case of fans not being able to extricate themselves from their media interests. "This asshole doesn't like what I like and doesn't validate my opinions? That must mean he dislikes me! Here, have a fucking downvote cuntbag. Say something bad again about what I like and I'll rape your mother and kill your dog."

nah that dude should be downvoted, fuck people who think their interests and why they like them can't be criticized
Uh, I never saw any instance of being defensive or being unable to handle criticism, just sheepishness for sharing his dislike for manga on an anime forum. Heck, he even articulated why he dislikes manga (a lack of a comprehensive AV experience that anime could provide, indicating he watches for much more than a 'story').
The fact that insulting another user for something to minor gets upvoted says a lot about the maturity of the community (although thankfully it looks a third of those who voted on the comment downvoted it, so all hope isn't lost)
yeah, he said he doesn't like manga because it doesn't have the flashy colors, so fuck that guy. do you excuse people who don't read because tv exists?
no need to be a cunt. I've got plenty of Game of Thrones spoilers for ya if you want to go this route =D
i read all those books so not for me you don't
I have been bested =(
it was a good try, if i was a hypocrite it would have worked
except you are being an unneccesary twat about it to the guy above.
how, by disagreeing with him?

I don't have to excuse them - they get their stories from TV and not from books; what is there to excuse or not excuse?
His media preferences are his media preferences. Maybe I'd think badly of him if he said he disliked manga without ever trying any, but it honestly sounds like he made a good faith effort to enjoy it and didn't ultimately like it. He then articulated why he didn't, and then was summarily downvoted for not enjoying it.
yeah, fuck having standards for media i guess.
I'm curious - is there something inherently wrong with getting your stories from a visual animated format like television/anime, over getting your stories from manga/literature? They both seem like effective but different methods to tell a story - what's the problem here?
there's nothing inherently wrong with anything that exists, it's just childish and silly to not expose yourself to a whole form of media because it doesn't have the pretty colors. it shows that your media interests are shallow. it reminds me of my room mate who only eats like hot dogs and macaroni and cheese and other 5-year old shit. like, yeah, you can do it, and there's nothing like, evil about it, but it's still stupid.
>it's just childish and silly to not expose yourself to a whole form of media because it doesn't have the pretty colors.
how childish and silly to not keep going back to something you don't enjoy. What a moron.
no, it's childish and silly to not expose yourself to a whole form of media because it doesn't have the pretty colors.
like, how can you quote what i said then not read it?

...I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that "preferring TV/anime for being colorful is childish" or "not giving new things a try is childish"? Because w.r.t the latter, /u/e2h2 specifically said he gave manga a try and ultimately didn't enjoy it.
> The lack of colour sound and motion just makes me lose interest.
it's this part
