The doctors who laughed at him are also assholes.

Edit: if they exist. I'm leaning towards this being an exaggerated story and not a made up story. I do not believe everything happened exactly as OP says, but I do think someone laughed at him at the hospital, and gender could certainly play a role. I consider myself a feminist, by the way.

OP lives in Malta, which ranks second lowest in gender equality out of EU countries. Women face great job discrimination and pay inequality than most of Europe. When these sorts of issues are present, gender role stereotypes usually exists on both sides of the spectrum. That said, it's unlikely that the whole ER laughed at him. For now I just wanted to say that anyone who did laugh at him was also being an asshole.

I'll err on the side of caution and say that it might just be exaggerated. I wouldn't put it outside of the realm of possibility that one or two people laughed at him for getting beat up with a woman's shoe, because gender roles.

But, you know, that's why I'm a feminist.

>A straw man or straw person, also known in the UK as an Aunt Sally, is a common type of argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position

I didn't misrepresent or alter anything. How does this differ from saying:

Woman gets attacked and raped by men.

Goes to cops and they begin laughing and over analyzing every part of her story and telling her to visit /r/thatHappened .

Do they laugh? I hear alloy about women not being believed, but I've never heard of the cops laughing.

Rapes happen all the time, they are very common. A large percentage of women are sexually assaulted in their lives.

On the other hand it's unheard of and would be highly irregular for trained medical professionals in the ER to laugh in their patient's face when they come in with serious injuries. In fact I don't think you could find one documented, verified case of this happening to a man attacked by a woman.

He's not saying no one laughs, he's saying the doctors don't laugh. They avoid laughing in the face of all the people with shit stuffed up their arse and saying the slipped, it seems unlikely that they would laugh at someone who was beaten up. But it's not impossible, not all doctors are saints.

Aw, c'mon, sexual violence is always a howler in the ER, really breaks up the tension when someone comes in all mutilated, screaming, passing out from pain, and bleeding from the pelvis!

...said no one who has ever worked in an ER.

I have absolutely no doubt that there is some asshole woman out there who would beat someone with her heels. I have a lot of doubts that doctors in the ER would laugh at an injured patient.

Having worked in ERs and watched perfectly poker-faced doctors taking histories from patients who come in with some pretty amazing things lodged in their rectums...I tend to agree with your doubts here.
