>It would be ephebophilia, actually.

>Peodphilia is attraction to pre-pubescents.

There's always one...

Whats wrong with the distinction? I mean, attraction really isn't a choice and finding someone aged around 14-17 is not that uncommon. (not to be said but its ok as long as you don't act on it and only depending on the state/country laws)

Maintaining this distinction really helps because its what truly differentiates between the natural(albeit being shamed by the society) to the downright terrible)

Because it's a word used by pedophiles to make them sound less creepy because it doesn't have the stigma the word pedophile does (yet).

It's also a word used by people who prefer to have words mean what they are intended to mean.

The problem is, usually the kind of people that insist on maintaining that distinction usually think that dating 15 years old girls is something that's totally normal, legal in some countries and was all the rage back in the days of castles and knights. And of course there's one or two newsbites about a jailed grown-ass man for the crime of having sex with a teenager (it's consensual!!1)

There's nothing wrong with the distinction. Men are wired to find women/girls who are sexually mature attractive. It really bothers me when people try to act like it's pedophilia, because it is not. I mean, how can you be attracted to an adult woman, and not be attracted to say, a 14 year old girl who is just as physically developed? Is it really so hard to say that it's perfectly okay to find girls that age physically attractive, while their immaturity and undeveloped minds make it unacceptable to act on? People piss me off, I don't want to be called a pedophile for having a natural, normal sexual attraction to people.

Because it is always brought up to try and justify banging 15yr old girls.

No, it's not always brought up to try to justify banging 15 year olds. Some people actually care that there is a serious distinction between the words.

I didn't see a single comment sexualizing her. Unless calling her attractive is sexualizing.

It kind of is when you're on a pedophile safe haven known as Reddit.

I really hope that all the people who are sexualizing young teens and preteens are young teens and preteens themselves. It's entirely possible, given the user base.

But yeah, the idea of 30 and 40 year old drooling over people young enough to be their children is beyond gross.

I'm pretty sure the fact that 14 year olds have gone through puberty is what sexualizes them.

Her that everybody? It's always okay to sexualize children once they've reached some arbitrary biological stage.

It's not arbitrary, it's the age at which a person is ready to reproduce. Couldn't be any clearer, really.

Well it varies widely and isn't correlated with maturity or adulthood.

For example, many of 11 year old girls have their periods, breasts, and hair but they still look like kids and they're still way to young to consent or have sex without it being coercive. Being able to reproduce physically does not in any way mean they are ready to reproduce.

Sexualizing children that young can be very damaging.

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with how humans evolved. For the vast majority of human existence, once a girl hit puberty it was time to start having children, and she would have been considered a woman at that point. And that is what shaped men's attraction to women, there was no arbitrary age of consent, so if a girl was physically able to reproduce, that's all that mattered. Having it illegal for a few decades can't possibly change that, and acting like it's some monstrous thing isn't helping anyone.

Oh yes.

Because the cavemen did it, it's suddenly okay behavior.

Never mind the fact that young teen mothers have way more complications and are not well equipped to give birth to children.
