Admins do not want to delete spammers because they need the content. I would post blatant blog spammers 10 times or more and still nothing would happen. Because admins realize that spammers contribute a significant amount of content to many subreddits.

That is simply not true. I understand it's frustrating when blatant blogspammers often go unchecked, and we do our best. Unfortunately there are much, much more worrisome and dangerous spammers that we are dealing with behind the scenes. You're fretting over the hiccups while we're trying to fight the plague.

So then wouldn't this have been something you folks would tell all those people reporting the spam? Seems like a little bit of communication could have resulted in people not wasting their valuable time?

I mean, especially considering the folks that submit to /r/reportthespammers and curate subreddits don't get paid.

We have explained this to them, several times. Despite what it looks like on the outside, we've always tried to keep a mutually beneficial relationship with RTS. Unfortunately as with everything, spam has grown and evolved into an entirely different beast than it was 7 years ago when RTS first opened. Our attention has shifted away from RTS more and more because of that.

spam on reddit is pretty much following the path of email spam, from what I can see. I've been studying email spam since the 90s, part of my purpose here on reddit has been to observe the similarities between the development of forum spam and email spam.
