It's not about any sort of theory. In reality, men are stronger than women, physically, and are capable of doing MUCH more harm. They are also capable of receiving much more harm from women, than vice versa. That's why people consider abuse against men by women a topic to be pitied or laughed at, while abuse against women remains a hot button issue. Unfair? Yes. But...that's how it is.

Abuse is only taken seriously when it's potentially fatal?

I don't think so.

The average adult female has more than enough strength to inflict fatal damage on the average adult male. Anyone laughing at dv victims male or female is just socially ignorant.

This. I hate when you hear people say "but women are not as strong as men!"

What they are really saying is "women are weak" - and that is redpill bullshit, I don't care how feminist you think you are. Women are not weak. Children are weak - adult women are not. Anybody who says otherwise - well, they're stupid.

Well yeah, a child can collapse a windpipe, but most people aren't going for killing blows. Anyways, I agree, abuse is bad whoever is doing/receiving it.

Yes, but on average it's much easier for a man to inflict a severe or fatal blow to a woman, than vice versa. That's why domestic violence against women is taken so seriously. And is it really socially ignorant if most of society is doing it?

Yes.

Most of society also used to think that black people were naturally meant to be property. That doesn't mean it wasn't ignorant of them.

Maybe if you're sticking to strictly unarmed hypotheticals.

Give the abuser a gun or a knife and baby you got yourself a level playing field going.

How are you going to attack somebody with a knife and baby?

Throw the baby at them. While they're distracted by trying to catch it, cut the wires suspending the chandelier and watch as it crashes down on them.

I laughed. That's high praise.

Well, like I said before, men usually are capable of taking much more of a beating than women, whether that beating comes from fists, or from blades, or from bullets. It's inherently sexist, yes, but we all know that that's just the way things go in this world.

And so we should just give up and stop fighting it? What?

I'm pretty sure bullets do a lot of damage no matter what gender you are. I doubt men can really survive many more rounds than women.

Domestic violence isn't just giving people huge beatings, or shooting them. It's any kind of violence in a relationship, controlling your partner through fear of violence. And it's never, ever okay.

You haven't met the girls I've met, have you? Try hanging out with "redneck" girls who can throw as mean a right hook as any guy, and are fully willing to do so.

Or any woman who works in emergency services (police/fire/medical). Guaranteed they can throw down.

Or any woman who works in heavy labor. Granted there aren't a ton of them, but they exist and have arms made out of steel cables. I wouldn't want any of the women I work with to try and deck me, I'd be on the ground and needing medical attention if one of them got that pissed at me.

The fact is that generalization like the one you made are not only wrong, they hinder actual growth of society by reinforcing outdated, overly-broad, and ridiculous stereotypes. I'm not a feminist, nor am I an MRA, I'm just someone in the middle that thinks we should treat each other fairly, according to each individual's abilities, and deal with abuse and oppression swiftly, harshly, but fairly.

Doesn't take much upper body strength to smash a bottle in your face, and that can seriously fuck you up.
