Log out or change settings to see what is being downvoted to oblivion. It is probably just natural disgust of the users rather than anything coordinated.

Old quote from a mod "the community is responsible for choosing which content is worthy of attention. We mods only enforce subreddit rules. The days of censorship are behind us."
(sorry if this is another thread )

Looks kind of like it might be someone with a botnet... Have you ever seen this happen before with any other sub?
Edit: A backup for my own personal use lol.
/r/atheism.
Same thing happened there. No bots, just a bunch of really angry users.
I see. Wow. I've never heard of anything like this going on before. Looks like a lot of people are really mad. The funny part is many of them have messaged us, then we asked them why they were so mad, and the only answer some of them could give was because other people were mad. They literally didn't even know why they were part of a witch hunt. It's all so crazy.
...some blacked out screenshots? maybe post them to /r/quotesfrommodmail ?
Given how many other lies we've seen from the mods and the amount of censorship we've suffered, no one's going to believe this without massive proof.

Fourth statement is a blatant lie. Multiple people came forth with proof of anutensil's bad behavior. She abuses any mod who doesn't do what she tells them to. She made a bot to spam links to people who spoke of her negatively in all these /r/technology threads. She accuses nearly everyone of being karmanaut in a conspiracy to attack her. She's got some mad schizophrenia. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but it doesn't mean I have to tolerate her bad behavior.
It was also pointed out that maxwellhill abused his mod position by posting about banned topics to reap the karma. He wouldn't let anyone else speak about the hot topics, but he was willing to take the karma. The only moderating he ever does it to approve his own posts and appoint his lapdogs.
Both of them removed mods without any discussion with the other mod team. That's why they left. No new mods, no discussion. They consider themselves beyond reproach. And they've done similar things on other subreddits. Davidreiss666 wasn't a saint by any means, but anutensil and maxwellhill are worse.
I saw dozens of screenshots of all of this. I've been following it for more than a month. Just because you either don't know or you lie about it doesn't grant you proof. I unsubscribed during all this, and I only check periodically. Same thing happened with many other people who saw the truth. Several other people are posting this information in the comments, if you actually bothered to look for it.
There were also stickied threads weeks ago with large amounts of proof that were removed. Every thread about this has had multiple deleted comments. Now your mod team is moving these threads to another subreddit because they can't take the opposition. There's proof enough of your censorship.
Yes, some uninformed people will follow the more informed. It does not invalidate our cause. Why don't you do your homework instead of perpetuating the lie?
You just changed the subject. You wanted proof people didn't even know what they were witch hunting against then I gave it to you. Now you've just moved the goal post.
Later
You gave me bad proof. It's not a change of subject to point out that your proof isn't proof at all.
Your "proof" was proof that you mislead someone. The only question is whether it was intentional or not.
You must be one of those armchair debaters who loves to talk about fallacies when they're caught being wrong. Freebie: that's an ad hominem, right there. Intentional and delicious.
TIL: There something know as "bad proof". It's proof of something, but for some reason it isn't accepted as proof.
I can't believe you don't understand this.
Let's simplify this for you. Person A accuses Person B of poor behavior without knowing all the facts. Person B responds "Not true! I told someone else that I didn't do that!" Person A responds "Ok, nevermind." Person C points out that there is plenty of proof that Person B had poor behavior, so the scenario doesn't count.
You gave me proof in which you mislead someone who was uninformed. Given, it's proof that not everyone knows the whole story. But you also either proved that you don't know the whole story yourself and are still taking a position or that you've been blatantly lying to people.
That's the kind of proof that weakens your position. The fact that it nominally proves your point while weakening your credibility makes it "bad proof".
Another real world example of this was when the head of the NSA lied to congress. His statements were proven false, so he went back to show that it couldn't be proven 100% that he'd intentionally lied. It was technically true, but it also made it very clear that he had to fall back onto a technicality of speech to not be guilty of perjury.
It's like when you reach that point in an argument with a friend where their position has been torn to shreds and their only response is that "you can't prove with 100% certainty that I'm not right. It's technically true because you can't prove anything with 100% certainty. But if that's the strongest evidence you have to support your position, you should probably just concede with your dignity still intact.
At this point, I'm doing this less to educate you (if it works, it's a wonderful side effect) and more to prove to the others that continue to read this thread that you're either ignorant or willfully deceitful. Good luck being whichever of those is you.
/r/atheism during the first few days of May-May June. Submissions in /new would receive tens of downvotes within seconds of being posted.
It's happened before, in another subreddit where giant portions of the userbase turned on the mod team.
Hi Creq, botnets would be a convoluted conspiracy theory resting on the assumption of a sophisticated plan to undermine /r/technology. (referring to our private message discussion)
Yes I have seen it happen in other subreddits when the hive mind is angry. See my examples here.

This pattern of voting is familiar for hive mind behaviour. The same reason for all the voting going on.
You were not complaining about bot nets when people were voting up your ridiculous claims of moderator corruption and shills etc.
OMG...reading this thread below
Let the admins figure it out, they have better access to the raw data.
TIL: Making observations then asking questions about why we are seeing what is observed make me a conspiracy theorist (slur intended). It's much the same as when a scientist makes an observations about the natural world, makes an educated guess as to why thing might be that way, then seeks to test that guess.
Edit: So in other words trying to figure out something that is not currently known makes someone a conspiracy theorist.
Separating theory from fact is also an important skill. The type of conspiracy theorists that attract ridicule are those that act on their theories and jump to conclusions. This is something I think you have done in the extended /r/technology drama involving witchhunts, brigades and accusations.
A scientist gathers evidence and sticks to the null hypothesis until the evidence supports a theory with some statistical significance. Scientists also look for the simple explanations that fit the evidence to draw statistical support.
What I said, was a general reference relating to the private message discussion we just had (rather than your actual comment in this thread). I agree you are just asking questions here. Just like most of /r/conspiracy is just asking questions.
Are you a comcast shill? (JAQ)
>This is something I think you have done in the extended /r/technology drama involving witchhunts, brigades and accusations.
So, you're saying you don't have any proof of that? Doesn't this make you a conspiracy theorists? Didn't you just jump to a conclusion?
All you're trying to do is smear me.
No I am not trying to smear you. I am trying to help you develop some self awareness of what you have been doing throughout the /r/technology drama. You crossed the line into conspiracy territory and smeared yourself in butter!
Do you have any proof I'm a conspiracy theorist, or are you just being a conspiracy theorist that makes wild assumptions based on nothing?
Sorry, too busy eating dick.
EDIT:
dam you edited out your insult. That is very decent of you but now I look a bit silly eating dick here on my own.
I think we both have made out points and it is a pointless back and forth. You are SRD famous enough for me not to have to cherry pick your posting history. I am only trying to describe your behaviour rather than prove you are a conspiracy theorist in the same way that someone would prove that you are a comcast shill.
"I'm just asking questions, maaaan"
Yeah, fuck the pursuit of knowledge and trying to answer unanswered questions.
Questions like, are you a paid actor/shill for comcast?!?! and why are you lying about being a paid actor/shill for comcast?!?!
Clearly this censorship must stop. I mean, why else would the community be in an uproar about basic moderation? If only we could go back in time and stop certain users from writing and popularizing that specific narrative in the minds of the community!
I think you should all just take a long hard look at this and try again.

Lol, did you miss the fallacy fallacy?
Top right.
You know this would be a lot more funny if people didn't read all this then take you seriously lol.
Maybe you shouldn't accuse people of fallacies when your own arguments are riddled with them. Glass houses, you know?
Ya, I imagine it sucks when a user crafts a convenient narrative that casts you in a bad light, even though you know that isn't the entire story.
Must be a terrible thing to have happen to you :(
