I bet the guy isn't even racist, he's just named it that to get a rise out of people, and all the fuss that is being made would delight him.
I'm not saying what he's written is ok, it's not, but I know people that are like this and the best thing to do is ignore this stuff and they will stop thinking it's funny when people stop being annoyed.
Edit: All this drama over semantics. Look up the word racist and you will understand my point. The guy is a dick clearly, but not necessarily a racist. There was no need for you to all get so mad although it was entertaining for 20mins.
This just brought me back to when I played CS and later CS Source. Nothing but 14 year olds with naked girl spray graffiti and racist jokes. Truly the best of times.
>Nothing but 14 year olds with naked girl spray graffiti
You're lucky. Most of what I saw was lemonparty, tub girl and goatse.
The worst I ever saw was a dude shitting on a baby. Seriously. The baby was laying on a table and the guy had popped a squat and shat on this baby's chest. What the FUCK.
I was a server admin for a while. Shit like that happened every single night, and the resulting drama was why I stuck around. For the next 2 hours everyone would be obsessed with the baby shitter and have a drawn out surrealist conversation about it.
In bf1942 half of the servers are hacked daily and replaced with racist names. The longest lasting one is "keep Europe white."
If he named his gun the Nigger Juicer to get a rise out of people without necessarily believing it, that doesn't make him any better than an actual racist naming it because he hates black people. To the target of a slur it generally makes no difference what the user of the slur is thinking
> I bet the guy isn't even racist, he's just named it that to get a rise out of people, and all the fuss that is being made would delight him.
You don't name something "Nigger Juicer" unless you're a little racist, considering that the act of naming it that is racist in itself. If he's just a troll, then he's a racist troll.
A couple of kids from my old high school made the local news for wearing shirts saying "Gay is not ok" to school on the day of silence.
I think their main goal was to offend people and piss them off, but they are also obviously pretty homophobic, or else they wouldn't have done it.
I think it's the same with this guy; even if he is mainly just a troll who enjoys getting a rise out of people, he's probably still racist to some extent.
You're a racist. Anyone not racist would have written "N-word" or "N****r" instead of what you wrote. You might be just a troll, but then you're a racist troll.
Or perhaps even worse, maybe you're a god damn nigger! :O
Excuse me sir but you can't just walk around on the Internet carrying so many edges.
However, I'm sure the Art of Shaving would love to have him on board to give out free samples of what shaving with their products is like.

If you use a racist slur, you are automatically racist, regardless of context or intent. Wat.
Also if the guy did it just to troll or be edgy, it doesn't mean he is racist at all. Doing something provocative because you know it gets the Jimmies rustling, is.. That, provocative. The fact that you(and everyone else) got upset over it means that the guy got exactly what he wanted: salt.
That is some serious SRS shitpost man.
Go cry about it.
I think that's what you are doing though.
Go cry about it.

How the hell can you jump from "naming a weapon a racial slur" to "writing a script that deals with racism". Don't be ridiculous. I seriously can't understnad people who say these things and claim they don't hold any prejudice at all. I really can't.
If I named something "Kike socks" or "Chink shield" and then claimed I'm not racist that would be a very big lie seeing as how I consciously decided to use those slurs casually and to also get a reaction from people. I cannot claim not to hold prejudices as I was not coerced into it. It was a conscious decision.
>Chink shield
passable as "chink in your armor" and whatever is an actual thing
No, it's really not
chinked shield? chink means vulnerability in its not-racist form
What I'm trying to argue is that the act of using a racial slur in that context is what's racist. Ironic racism is still racism.
>Ironic racism is still racism.
Is it though? That doesn't make much sense at all. Satire is satire, sarcasm is sarcasm, and irony is irony. Steven Colbert's homophobia doesn't make the person homophobic.
I'm not arguing that this person is not racist. I don't care enough, and I don't know enough. But to rule out all intent in analyzing a person? No, intent is first.
Mocking Rick Perry and saying "Gays shouldn't be allowed to join the military" and actually saying "Gays shouldn't be allowed to join the military" are very different things. If someone's goal is to get as much of a negative reaction as possible, then they are intrinsically going to be offensive. Yet to call that person a racist is making it meaningless for actual racists.
Well first of all, ironic racism is still racism, it's just ironic.
Second of all, this wasn't irony or sarcasm. At best it was a shitty attempt to be edgy.
Someone else ITT already explained that maybe it was traded and he didn't realize it. But feeling superior while getting the joy of judging someone with no absolutely no previous history of racist behavior must feel pretty good.
> he didn't realize it
Didn't he equip the thing?
If that explanation is true, it's still irrelevant. My comments simply apply to whoever named the weapon.
No trust me my friends do this stuff and there's not a racist bone in their bodies, they're just childish cunts. Calling someone a racist refers to a belief that someone has.
Hahahaha your friends are racist. Probably not very racist, but they're still at least a little racist if they think it's acceptable to use racial slurs like that. Sorry to be the one to break this to you, but your friends shouldn't behave like racists if they don't want people thinking they're racist.
Oh sorry, I didn't know you knew them better than me. I'll let them know how much they hate black people then. Damn, they're going to feel bad about themselves now.
You do know that there are degrees of racism, right? I wasn't accusing your friends of wanting to go on a lynching party, I was accusing them of being racist enough to use racial slurs. I don't even need to know them, you just told me why they're racist even if you refuse to accept it yourself.
No, I think you're getting mixed up with the definition of racism. If you call someone a racist you are referring to a belief that they have. My friends are not even slightly racist.
I hate to be that guy, but you are talking about my friends here:
rac·ism (rā′sĭz′əm) n. 1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. 2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
They do neither of those things.
You seem to be arguing definition in a few places of this thread but I feel I should point out that singling out a race of people unnecessarily is a form of racism.
dis·crim·i·na·tion - the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, esp. on the grounds of race, age, or sex
If your joke relies on the subject being of race than its racist. If you need wording that is grounded in racism, its racist.
Essentially, if you can't tell the joke without the racial aspect than its racist. If you need to add the race for greater affect, its racist. So even though the intent of the joke was not racism the outcome may or may not be depending on how you construct it.

He could have a whole arsenal of weapons, each with a different slur against a different race/minority. We just don't know.
Is that supposed to make it better? Like, then he's just a huge racist ass to everyone instead only a single specific group?

Except for the part where they're using racial slurs. The act of using racial slurs the way you say they do is racist.
Master troll, they were only acting racist.
You make a good point.

You know them better than we do, we just are better at putting 2 and 2 togheter.
>I bet the guy isn't even racist, he's just named it that to get a rise out of people,
This shouldn't need explaining but if you're going around saying incredibly racist things just to offend minorities for laughs, you're a racist. There is no "he's just doing it because he thinks it's funny, so it doesn't count" exemption.
I remember a time when "racist" meant "judges people based on their race," not "says offensive things."
Coincidentally, using racial slurs to get a rile out of people is almost always a good sign that you're a bit of a racist.
Not really, it's more about offending sanctimonious authority figures than offending actual minorities. For most white American teenagers, "anti-racism" is the status quo, dictated and enforced by schoolteachers, administrators, network television, their parents, etc. Teens going through their "rebellious" phase will spout racist shit because it gives them a petty feeling of sticking it to The Man.
If the way you choose to rebel is by being using racist terminology, at some level, you're joining the racist side. Blame it on being edgy or whatever you want, if you're acting like a racist, you're being a little bit of a racist.
It also means that at a certain level they believe in those things...
Wait, what? Every joke I've ever made I believe in "on a certain level?"
There are people who attempt to shield their prejudices by claiming "it's just a joke," but the idea that every joke one ever makes must be believed on a "certain level" is just another extreme.
Please understand I'm not defending using racial slurs for any purpose, just the notion that all things said in jest must be, "on a certain level," believed.
I was specifically talking about the people who try to use it for 'shock value'. There's a difference between self deprecation and racism in private amongst friends to laugh, and saying it publicly just to be edgy
But the thing is, there are a lot of ways to offend sanctimonious authority figures, and the ones you choose say something about you. All throughout middle and high school I was told never to use semicolons by my English teachers and never given a better reason than "no one knows how to use them properly", so I looked up how to use semicolons and now when I need an act of petty rebellion, I use them. At heart, I am a pretentious pedant; deep down, these teens are racists.
>if you're going around saying incredibly racist things just to offend minorities for laughs, you're a racist.
It does need explaining though. You're statement is way too broad; it can be applied to anyone. That means around 90% of all comedians are actual racists. Some people do say it just because they think it's funny.
Read this. It makes a good point for the existence of the "funny because they think it is" exemption.
>That means around 90% of all comedians are actual racists.
I'm kind of amazed that you're trying to compare comedians telling the occasional blue joke to some asshole who named his gun "the nigger juicer" in a video game. Key and Peele are not making jokes for the same reason the inarguably racist asshole in question is, and it's incredible I even need to point that out.
Jesus, getting reddit to acknowledge racism (against any group but white people) is fucking exhausting. We've been having a day-long multi-subreddit debate over whether or not the dipshit who named his gun a slur for black people is a racist. How much more obvious could it possibly be? Is there any instance of racism against black people that is so clear cut and incontrovertible that reddit won't bend over backwards to extend the benefit of the doubt? Hell, if we had video of this guy in full Klan robes carrying out a lynching I bet at least a dozen people would feign confusion about how that could possibly be construed as racist.
Somehow I get the feeling that reddit would be a lot quicker to label this racist if the gun was called "fuck whitey."
Thank you for all of this. This is exactly what I want to say every time this shit comes up, but you're more articulate (and patient) than I am.
Man, that's the first time anyone has ever accused me of being patient! Thanks for the thanks, though.
>Hell, if we had video of this guy in full Klan robes carrying out a lynching I bet at least a dozen people would feign confusion about how that could possibly be construed as racist.
this actually happened, or something extremely similar
there's a really famous picture of a black woman protecting a neo nazi from an angry mob and some popcorn popped off when a bunch of people in the thread tried to claim that the guy wasn't inherently racist, even though he had on SS pins and big confederate flag stitched to his jacket
they didnt want to "jump to conclusions" about a fucking neo nazi
> Key and Peele are not making jokes for the same reason the inarguably racist asshole in question is, and it's incredible I even need to point that out.
It's incredibly arguable. Yeah, Key and Peele make jokes in order to make people laugh. This kid also did it to make people laugh, but also to be offensive. But is it racist? To be racist, you must believe that one race is better than another. If he doesn't believe that, how can he be racist?
Is the gun's name an offensive and low brow attempt at comedy? Hell yeah. Is it racist? I don't think so. Unless the guy actually harbors racist beliefs, it's just a stupid joke to offend people.
>Jesus, getting reddit to acknowledge racism (against any group but white people) is fucking exhausting.
And holy shit dude please don't fucking pretend you're the sole source of reason and equality on this website populated by millions. You aren't as important and reasoned as you think you are. There are plenty of instances portraying clear cut racism. Thankfully, these instances are on the decline as the world matures and globalizes. Racism is still around, but this isn't it. Remember what that word means next time, instead of spouting it like a goddamn buzzword to polarize people.

Exactly. A world where offensive words don't exist is a world well on its way to Newspeak and thought crime.
>Exactly. A world where offensive words don't exist is a world well on its way to Newspeak and thought crime.
The fact that you wrote this with what I can only assume was a straight face is cracking me up.
Careful dude, you don't what race I am. You might be a racist now.
He could be trying to offend the majorities who like to get offended on behalf of minorities.
This definitely shouldn't need explaining twice in two minutes but what the hell, here goes. If you are deliberately being racist as shit just to upset minorities and non-racists then you're racist. Saying "I'm just doing it because it's funny to upset people" isn't a mitigating circumstance and it's kind of insane that you think it would be.
nope. not unless you change the definition of racism to suit your own beliefs.
I'm not the one trying to change the definition, sport. Somehow I'm not surprised you're in a big hurry to die on this "the only REAL racism left on earth is anything that affects me personally" hill again.
Oh i'm not in a hurry. I can argue all day, you seem like you're getting quite mad and this is just popcorn for me.
This guy could be a racist. He could also not be one. We just don't know :)
> Oh i'm not in a hurry. I can argue all day, you seem like you're getting quite mad and this is just popcorn for me.
Lol you're cute.
>We just don't know :)
I get the feeling a lot of self-evident things are complete mysteries to you.
No. Racism refers to someone's belief. We don't know what he/she believes. Also, he could have bought the gun from someone else and been stuck with the name. As far as I know, in CSGO if you name a gun it stays the same after you sell it.
>No. Racism refers to someone's belief.
How many times are you planning on losing this exact same argument? You've done the "slurs don't matter, you CHOOSE to be offended, and nothing is really racism until we have the ability to read minds anyway" routine in here over and over and over and the holes in this reasoning have been explained to you ad nauseum. I don't need to be telepathic to know that the guy who thinks "nigger juicer" is funny is a racist.
>Also, he could have bought the gun from someone else and been stuck with the name. As far as I know, in CSGO if you name a gun it stays the same after you sell it.
You can change the tag easily. His gun could be called something else in five seconds if he wanted, and clearly he doesn't.
> You can change the tag easily.
Sorry, didn't know.
> How many times are you planning on losing this exact same argument?
I don't think it can be lost seeing as you're confused about the meaning of racist. Sorry, but someone else in this thread has been calling my friends racists and so I've been a bit defensive. My point stands though.
You just finished telling everyone that your friends do things like this. I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you (just kidding, I'm not sorry at all) but your friends are racists.
This will apparently come as something of a shock to you but burning a cross on someone's lawn right before you lynch them is not the bar for what constitutes bigotry and everything up to that point is a-ok. If you enjoy calling people n_____, you're a racist. If you enjoy doing it because you think it's funny to upset people you're a childish racist, but "thinking it's funny" is not some sort of magical racism immunity. That's idiotic.
If you're so upset about your friends being (correctly) labeled racists then maybe you should encourage them to stop calling people n_____ all the damn time, genius.
shit, they're going to be so ashamed when I break it to them that they actually hate black people.
I seriously doubt they'll be ashamed or surprised.
For people who don't know, there is a betting site where you bet your valuable skins on teams. Sometimes the owner of a skin that lost a bet named their weapon a certain way. The player with the Nigger Juicer tag might have won the skin via the betting site with the Name already attached to it.
> For people who don't know, there is a betting site where you bet your valuable skins on teams. Sometimes the owner of a skin that lost a bet named their weapon a certain way. The player with the Nigger Juicer tag might have won the skin via the betting site with the Name already attached to it.
it takes less than 5 seconds to delete a nametag and its the first thing I do when buying skins because most nametags are stupid.
> they remove all stickers and nametags before returing.
This is false information. I've had returned at least 3 skins where there were stickers on it. And once I even had a name tag on a Stattrak Five-Seven.
> at any rate it takes less than 5 seconds to delete a nametag
That's true.
well it used to, they may have updated the api since i used it months ago
nah pretty sure he's a racist
Lol OK. Night x
> I bet the guy isn't even racist
Is that the third person version of I'm not racist but...?
Tbh I am surprised the game even let him call it that. Some people just so stupid. . . .
