LP channels are shit. Go play the game yourself instead of watching a kid scream about what he's doing in it.
Eh not all of them are. A lot of them are terrible but a lot of Something Awful guys actually do a decent job most of the time. I'm a big fan of slowbeef and diabetus' individual channels and their retsuprae YouTube channel as well. They tend to do unique games (slowbeef has been playing through dark souls so yeah) or just in general be hilarious. It's all about finding stuff you like. But then again LPs aren't for everyone either
About the only LPs I can stand to watch are slowbeef and diabeeetus' Retsuparae videos. Which I guess are really just LPs of watching other LPs.
I can't imagine enjoying watching someone else silently play a game or comment on it normally, but tell me there's a new episode in the BillyMC saga and I am all over it. Will he get McDonalds for Christmas again this year???
They are more of a riff tracks of both video games and LPs that's why I originally loved them honestly. Brought back memories of MST3K
Silent LPs can be useful for strategy tips when you're up against shit like this
I like the old Respawn crew of Seananners, Gassy, Sark, Hutch because they just have videos you can watch without any context and get meaning out of them. I don't watch a lot of YouTube, because I can go play the games myself. Let's Plays are just a quick view of the game before I decide if I want to download the game or not download the game. People like Pewdiepie and those annoying kind of viewwhores have taken YouTube down the shitter, (Not like there was much to work with before) into yell at everything humor.
They are still fun to watch, but seananners makes completely different videos than he used to.
on that note, rest in peace Nerd^3. I didn't unsubscribe because he started doing less content, it was because the less content was like 50% him ripping on bad games that everyone already knew were bad, and 50% his scripted stuff which is just bland.
I dislike them now. Obviously staged moments with some funny parts.

I'm not saying those are Let's Plays, I'm saying that's what I watch and it's not even that good.

If the only LP channels you've seen are about kids screaming, you might be finding the wrong channels. I can't even remember the last time I stumbled across a channel run by a kid.
I use them to gear down for bed. I've had sleeping problems for FOREVER, and I need something mindless to watch to get my head into sleep mode. I play guitar, and listening to music just makes me think about progressions, technique, etc. I write, so films/tv/books make me think too much about story structure and character arc while I'm laying in bed, but LP's are a good mix of visual stimulus and just-interesting-enough-to-enjoy content.
I'm not trying to change your mind or anything, just offer one possible application for LP's.
