Budweiser is a great beer. Czech beer is generally great. I still prefer Pilsner Urquell, though.

Yeah we're all pretty much the same these days- microbreweries everywhere.

The US used to be terrible for beer but they have learned and learned well.

Edit: why the downvotes? There are some seriously good beers coming out of the states these days.

You're not the only country that has microbreweries. I, for one, say "fuck 'em". I'm not going to pay 20 bucks a litre for beer.

Get some beer that is both affordable and decent, in quantities, and we can talk.

I'm not American but am able to get American micro brewery bottled beers at reasonable prices- I presume it's cheaper in America than the other side of the Atlantic.

Look for Brewdog stuff if you get the chance- not so micro anymore but keeping the quality.

I live in the Netherlands and they should not talk shit about American beer. Grolsch, Heineken, Bavaria, Amstel.. ugh so disgusting.

Americans whenever beer is discussed on Reddit these days: "Muh Microbreweries!".

Europeans don't fucking care about your "Microbrews". Get some good mainstream beer, and then we'll talk.

Our microbreweries outsell your mainstream, so I guess that just makes you small.

Source?

Also, even if it is true, smaller populations will obviously affect how much a beverage sells.

Sam Adams outsells a lot of smaller European countries already, that is just one.

There is Deschutes Brewery, 109 million in revenue, etc.

There are 100's of breweries like that, see us Americans like to have choices in our beer, instead of rigid undying loyalty.

It is nice to see the Europeans playing catch up with craft brewing but the US has a 25 year head start and Americans/Canadians are winning over half of international medals now in European categories. There are places here in my hometown that sell 1200 types of beer. I think the best German-style Kolsch beer is now made in Colorado.

As important as microbreweries are, our mainstream beer is actually good unlike American mainstream beer. So I think we're better off overall. Especially since we don't have to pay craft prices for good beer.

Let us know when you catch up in terms of overall beer quality - if the majority of your population is still drinking what is effectively water, you can't claim to have much of a beer culture.
