After his accusations was removed from SRD, user posts the same accusation to /r/drama - the accused shows up. The next chapter of david-me meta-drama-wave. (np.reddit.com)

This whole thing is just really bizarre. Like... he was banned for a week. 7 days. Calm the fuck down.

I think people are mad at the mods for the same reason the mods are mad at david, its a lot of little things that have built up.

I noticed that some of the people who were "mad" at the mods either never posted in SRD before or were from the anti-SRD metasphere. I suppose there are legit complaints, but I still cannot think of anything the mods did wrong in the past months. David was rightly banned for a week.

Comment section is a bit more preachy than it used to be but you can't blame them for that.

People are free to go to a different subreddit. There are already plenty of alternatives to SRD with much different moderation policies. No one is obligated to stay here, nor are they entitled to dictate how the mods mod. That's what david was banned for--acting like he's above the mods--so it seems counterproductive for people to stomp their feet and throw a fit when the mods actually do something about it. And something so minor, too. Lordy jumpin.

Or the mods could leave and we could get better ones and not have to go anywhere.

And by "better" You mean "ones that agree with me." of course.

Eh the option that would allow the laxest modding is probably to go private, some or most of the time, which would be fine for /u/DemonicBtch, might turn out ok for me, but probably wouldn't do so well for a youngish heavily negged account like /u/dirtybrds.

Private subs or subs that restrict posting tend to get less insane because they are much harder to pile in alts, also they prevent dragging the drama back to the meta thread. Of course then there is the whole who gets to be a member nonsense, and accusations of elitism, etc.

Private subs are best subs. You never have to worry about being bombed with a million downvotes and called every name in the book. So peaceful. So zen.

But then others would be upset with the lax moderation. There's no winning.

Were people actually upset that David-Me's jokes were going mostly unchecked?

No.

No. I don't particularly care that he was momentarily banned either, but I've seen much more offensively wrong shit on here than david's comments.

Some of the mods clearly were. And I've seen several users saying that this is a good thing. Personally, I didn't see much of what was complained about because I'm always late to the party.

I think that the mods should do absolutely nothing while david is banned. I think that the sub would turn to total shit in that time, and everyone would be begging for the mods to do their jobs again.

>People are free to go to a different subreddit

Want to take a guess at who the minority is in this situation? The people who agree with david-me? Or the people who agree with mods like takeitorcirclejerk?

So yes, people are free to go to a different sub... /r/srsredditdrama is that way

It doesn't work that way. Subreddits are not democracies. And by no means is the SRD moderation policy even remotely similar to that of SRS.

There's a difference between what people can do, and what people should do.

Are you saying that the mods should allow people to use hateful slurs and test their boundaries endlessly or that people should continue to whine about a subreddit that they willfully and repeatedly return to despite numerous alternatives designed specifically to cater to them?

5 fakebucks on both.

You went too far I think. 'Are you saying mods should allow people to break the rules they have set?' would've been enough. The mods could let people use hateful slurs they decided they don't want to do that and that's it, as you said, this is not a democracy
