Can young white men have opinions? Is 'privilege' just a bullshit SJW word? Should we all be off threatening Anita Sarkeesian? These are the questions which plague r/Australia users. (np.reddit.com)

People on Reddit get so mad when someone doesn't think a young white man's opinion is the most important.
> People in some parts of Reddit get mad when the value of somebody's opinion is decided solely by their skin colour/gender/cultural background.
FTFY.
No need to thank me.
Social justice for white folks, right?
How about for all folks? What's wrong with the dream of a world where the value of a man isn't determined by the colour of his skin?
Always remember to consult your color chart when you're out trying to stand up for people. Too pale = probably the cause of the problem anyway, fuck 'em.
I wonder if these people know what a brown paper bag test is.
White people have value but that doesn't mean they are the be-all, end-all authorities. Do you think white people are deprived of social justice or something?
Are you intentionally ignoring his point to be an asshole or are you just racist/ sexist? Because ain't no place for bigoted scum here
White people, the real targets of racial bigotry in North America.
Yes we can solve racism with racism good one valuable contribution great point well said etc etc
("I'm not racist I'm just prejudice against skin color" is actually just racism. While it's great for being a useless piece of shit, it's bad for getting people to become less racist. Unless you're pro-racism and pro-segregation, you should probably stop being proud of your bigotry and do your part to end that shit.)
If white people truly do have all the power, surely alienating all of those people capable of change is the BEST way to see change go through amirite????
The knowledge that I'm privileged via my race doesn't alienate me. If I can be a grownup about it, why can't other white people?
It certainly seems to be a bit counter-productive by basically calling all of your biggest possible supporters assholes.
Catch more flies with honey, etc.

Because other white people aren't doormats so terrified of being called racist that we never disagree with other races.

Save your hate filled platitudes for someone who gives a shit. Seriously if I hadn't already browsed your comments I would think that your some kind of bot.
Just because someone was mean to you in the past doesn't mean it's ok to spread that filth.
If you think my comments are "hate filled," you need to acquaint yourself with the real world.
Well of course There are many kinds of hate. I feel sorry for you :( and I wish I knew what you were trying to do here besides rustle peoples jimmies

You seem to have a problem with other races. Why is this?
Edit: pointless replies aside sidelining the majority from a discussion is a great way to make sure that majority never gets convinced meaning slanting opinions unequally (funnily enough) harms the cause of equality.
Look at what happened with the privilege pyramid in the occupy movement? You cannot expect a group which is treated as less important by a structure to buy into that structure, right?
Isn't that the basis of all social justice movements?
>privilege pyramid in the occupy movement
The progressive stack, for those wondering.
That was one facet of it- that movement worked hard to alienate members.
Edit: To be fair I can only talk about the London group with first hand information, others may have been different.
Care to elaborate on the things the London group did to alienate people?
It didn't start off badly but it eventually became a clique made up of socialist and anarchist (weirdest alliance ever) hipsters and then everybody else to be barely tolerated. I was only there for a couple of days (I got a couple of days off work but some of us have bills to pay so couldn't stay longer) but a friend of mine was there for a good part of it.
I'll see if I can get him to relate his experiences.
TLDR: They first ran skin colour based priority then ran extremism of political alignment based priority, those of us who made up the majority that the group was meant to be all about had no place in it.
What other races do I seem to have a problem with?
Not this shit again...
Disregarding someone's opinion on the basis of their skin color or gender?
I'm sure if the tables were turned, you'd be complaining about racism or sexism.
TIL
"Not completely 100% dismissed on the basis of race/gender" = "most important".
"Your opinion is worthless because of your race/gender/orientation"
"No, it's really not. He can still have a relevant opinion because..."
"OMG SO MAD YOUR NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT DURRR"
That sounds a little racist. You're dismissing someone exclusively because of their skin colour. how would you feel about someone saying "Man i just couldn't care less about your opinion on this, because you're black" I'm sure you can easily recognize how that is racist.
Yep. Every time.
Thread demonstrating it perfectly.
Absolutely.
This is really weird though now. Your comment is at -33 as I write this, while my response which is completely agreeing with you is at 7, and your response to that is at -6.
So either people think I’m being sarcastic in agreeing with you, you have dedicated downvoters, or I'm completely missing something. Super weird.
They think you disagree with me.
Yeah, that must have been it, because now my comments are firmly in the negatives.
Oh no! Not my imaginary internet points! LOL
