...and now TiA is going further into the MRA sphere.

If anything, the mods should've banned all the "le feminists are evol lel" posts

A good example of that was the outrage over the Welcome to Tumblr video. Here is a best of, of that.

From what i've seen so far, TIA hates social justice warriors (SJWs) and by extension feminists. This has drawn in a lot of Mens Rights Advocates (MRAs) who are also anti-feminists.

The real irony is that MRAs in TIA don't realize that they are also social justice warriors

"Trans-exclusionary radical feminists". They are feminists who argue that men who dress like women and/or have a sex change operation should not have access to women's programs, safe-spaces, etc. because they haven't gone through life living what women go through.

Unless they changed the rules around recently, not likely. There's usually some flavor-of-the-month blog whose updates almost all get featured and karma-whored regularly, such as This Is Thin Privilege and Transcats.

I don't think it'd be popcorn pissing if you're not messing with the linked drama. Go ahead and post it. It'll probably go over well. The redpill stuff that gets posted is usually from Return of Kings so this would be a nice change of pace.

That's pretty insulting to most feminists. There's a huge difference between feminism and tumblr feminism, and TiA only focuses on the latter.

  • 05:51:52, 23 March

That can certainly be a problem, but you could say the same thing about any meta subreddit, including this one. There's really no way to prove this, but I think if you spend some time in the comment sections in TiA you'd be surprised by how understanding they are of the fact that what they're laughing at isn't representative of feminism as a whole.

  • [-]
  • Ten_Godzillas
  • 9 Points
  • 06:02:36, 23 March

The difference here though is when we see craziness that is upvoted in their respective sub.

On our front page there's a redpill post that is almost certainly pro-date-rape. It got a score of 100+ on the redpill front page.

When reasonable and dissenting opinions get shouted down and extreme crazy is upvoted you know there's a problem.

  • [-]
  • ApathyPyramid

Right. It's stupid. TiA initially was overall a pretty sane, middle of the road place. They were dedicated to mocking SJWs, but they also weren't the reactionary idiots they are now. They were pretty firmly overall in the "whatever, treat people as individuals" camp. Now they're essentially just like the SJWs they mock, but with the opposite position. Like a lite version of SRS and /pol/.

  • [-]

to be fair if you saved everything that offended you on reddit to access easily you're prolly not in a good camp either.

It's not TIA critics, it's critics of any subreddit. I don't like /r/atheism and when my religion was being discussed I said ama and people were assholes. I didn't save the link because it was a) two accounts ago and b) I don't care enough to dredge it up. Doesn't mean I'm making stuff up.

> From what i've seen so far, TIA hates social justice warriors (SJWs) and by extension feminists.

What? TiA hates radical Tumblr extremists who live outside the realm of normal civilization. SJW has become a pejorative for a radfem, not a sane feminist like /u/greenduch Good morning Greenie! I don't think any rational feminist would identify as an /r/againstmensrights user, but would choose to embrace their cause and only shout down the extremists.

P.S. Fuck /r/TheRedPill. That is not MensRights!

> Modern feminism is a joke.

In the eyes of today's online community who are exposed to the vocal of the extremists? yes.

>[feminism] focuses on one gender and by definition cannot be equality.

Same answer.

>People like Erin pizzey, we need a few thousand more people like her to combat the fucking crazy of modern feminism.

Only only an MRA or a meta user would even know that name. I'll concede the point.

>Feminism has to die, its just not worth the trouble of living.

Don't blame this shit on MRA's! This is a direct result of the term feminism being watered down my the radicals.

Stop counting the upvotes and try and realize the "why". feminism is what "equalism". Equality for both sexes. If you don't listen when men discuss what they think is important, how do you expect them to listen to you!?

  • [-]
  • Gapwick
  • -1 Points
  • 06:05:03, 23 March

I'm not "blaming MRAs", I'm saying it's blatantly obvious that the majority of TiA users are anti-feminism, not just anti-SJW.

And it's kinda priceless that you accuse me of that while simultaneously blaming feminist for tainting feminism, when like 90% of your exposure to the ideology is from anti-feminists on TiA.

  • [-]
  • david-me

I disagree. TiA is a circlejerk sub. A sub where people not only mock others, but encourage others to join in and are upvoted for the effort.

This is the same as SRS being called a misandrist bigoted sub, when you all claim to be a circlejerk.

  • [-]
  • Dreyka
  • 6 Points
  • 07:20:19, 23 March

Except we know the "It's a circlejerk." is a flimsy defense that is meant to deflect that the opinions in that sub are actually genuine. SRS may do it but we know the opinions are still pretty genuine. PCMasterRace may be a circlejerk sub but the opinions in it are still serious and when you act like idiots you'll find yourself in company of idiots who believe they are in good company.

TiA is a shithole because it lost the middleground. The middleground was to laugh at the extreme edges but still maintain the middleground and recognize that not everyone is like that while having some productive discussion. Then the vote-patterns started shifting as the MRA/Anti-femininst/pol/ crowd started to move in and circlejerk while the middleground or anyone that may actually recognize that it is a nuanced issue and feminism isn't what gets linked to by TIA got downvoted. The vote patterns shifted to that extreme and the middle left because nobody likes to have their posts at the bottom of the page.

Now it basically an MRA/Anti-femininst/pol/ subreddit. Which means the comment section is shit unless you find them in good company. I don't find them good company because they are idiots from one direction laughing at the idiots from another direction.

I've seen people on TiA who identify as feminists and get upvoted. I suppose the negative attitude towards feminist is because a lot of online feminist activists are actually the sexist kind that claims that sexism against men doesn't exist. So these examples you mentioned are overgeneralizations. But I've never seen a feminist who actually believes in gender equality get insulted on TiA.
