I've noticed that my fellow Americans tend to be frustrated and confused that no one else seems to be as nervous about Putin and Russia as we are, and I have a theory on why. We keep looking at Russia as this big scary Cold War monster and ourselves as the unquestioned Heroes of Earth, but we fail to realize that to the rest of the planet we're actually the unpredictable nutjobs with all the weapons that everyone else is kind of nervous about.

Hell, at least Russia's actions make some sort of sense. Putin wants to restore the Soviet Union; obviously not ideal, but at least it's just a standard land and power grab. Meanwhile our government is infested with religious fundamentalists who think the end of the world is imminent and certain arbitrary countries need to be obliterated for Jesus to reappear, and we've got the biggest military on the planet by a factor of ten or so. That is not a reassuring combination. Our previous president literally believed that we were living in the End of Days. We believe in magic and we have all the guns; of course no one is as paranoid about Russia as we are, they're too busy being paranoid about us.

Sit down and try to think of everything you know about either Russia or Ukraine. Once you come up with the number of facts you know try to evaluate if that's enough to make a sweeping analysis of the current situation.

Well, it's not your standard land grab, since as you should know we no longer live in the 18th century, and land by itself isn't all that useful. The situation in Ukraine v Russia is a complicated mess of Russian intentions to both destabilize EU and the new Ukrainian government, and to rally up supporters of the regime in Russia. But never mind that since you apparently believe that the most important international politics in the world is done by land grabbers and jesus freaks.

It's called a joke post, professor. If you're laboring under the impression that we're actually dictating foreign policy in here you must be incredibly confused by how many countries are interested in Bitcoins and overcooked steaks.

My mistake. It's just that joke posts usually contain something at least mildly funny. I would suggest you try to add some humor or irony in your next joke post, you know, to avoid confusion.

Now there's a wildly original burn, no wonder you consider yourself qualified for this Comedy Police job! I hope you've got some more pointers for me, I definitely should be taking notes on this.

Don't diss the badge, it comes with a lot of responsibilities. As far as pointers go, don't use frustrated, confused, nervous, and theory in your opening sentence if your going to make a funny. The internet is full of crazy people, and you might get mixed with the lot.

You are definitely the George Zimmerman of the Citizen Comedy Patrol!

(While we're dissecting comedy here you may be interested to know that one was about 50% "in that the title is self-appointed at the request of no one" and about 50% "keeping an eye out for suspiciously dark humor." Just couldn't make up my mind!)
