Lol that TiTrC Meltdown is great.
It's what happens when the SRD mods are from circlebroke and are sympathetic to SRS and get angry when someone uses tranny in a way that's not even offensive. This subreddit turned into a circlebroke and srs circlejerk when all of the circlebroke mods were added almost a year ago and it sucks.

So posting a completely unrelated story about cars for the sole purpose of using the word 'tranny' in a thread about trans people isn't offensive? I realize it was a joke, but he wasn't using that word for no reason.
And he has been warned about it many times

k, if i were black could i use the 'n-word' on here? not that i'm trying to imply that they're even remotely close to the same severity, but they're both definitely 'racist slurs.' if you're going to allow one due to your own race, why is another then not allowed?
edit: 4 months ago you said "white people are awful." if a black person said "black people are awful," would that be allowed?
depending HEAVILY on context, we occasionally allow that word to fly, too. it's strongly dependent on mod judgment, though.

doesn't that fly in the face of the whole point of "zero tolerance?" zero tolerance, by its very name, shouldn't rely on judgement. it doesn't matter the context or connotation, every slur or hate speech should be banned, whether it be a joke, satire, or even referencing someone else using the word.
If you think a slight change in the wording, I guess maybe, but the first listed rule is "all judgment is left at moderator discretion" so that kinda covers everything

Frankly, it says right there in the rules that this isn't anyone's personal army. And this isn't anyone's safe space either. Some people here get to shit on very specific groups and very offensive and triggering ways and nobody gives a shit. If david's comment was offensive then removing it was enough, but then TiTrC had to go into drama queen (*gasp*) mode.

Nah, no change, just a clerical error. Somebody in scheduling sent out the wrong one to half the staff, so everybody's got their jimmies rustled over this kerfuffle.

The moderation went to shit not long after LordGaGa turned it over to the current clowns. Ironically, considering the topic of this post, LordGaGa was a transgendererered individual. This place was cool as shit when he was running it. People could say what they think without the vice squad squelching them, less restrictions on what could get submitted, etc.
LordGaGa didn't "turn it over". They resigned after being witchhunted by SRD, and this current crop of mods started looong after LorGaga's resignation, when BEP demodded everyone below him because two mods were fighting
The sub was also <10k subscribers at the time.
I know, it would've been much easier to be a control freak then and he still refused.
