If there's one thing reddit loves, its a good anti-mormon circlejerk.
The post could be about how SLC gives free money to everyone or has universal healthcare or whatever, maybe where aliens land, and reddit would figure out a way to turn it into an anti-mormon jerk
There is only a SINGLE post talking about mormonism in the thread. What are you talking about?
Its just an easily observable historic redditor behavior. Mention utah and watch people crawl out of the woodwork. Its happening in this very thread
But your post is literally the only one in this thread that mentions Utah or OSC's Mormonism.
gay dude here; having a real hard time caring
The best way to preach tolerance is through tolerance of others.
Wow, downvoted for saying tolerate other's beliefs. Good job reddit. SO PROGRESSIVE. Forget compassion, hatred is sure to solve all the worlds problems
hahaha yeah, tell that to the people who play an instrumental role in denying me my rights and humanity
Do you know the actual reason the mormon church of Los Angeles was in opposition of Prop 8? Not the one that was in that movie, their side of the story?
What is it? I'm really interested.
in another comment Paradox said this:
> Prop 8, as originally worded, stated that any institution performing marriages, religious or otherwise, would have to marry any and all individuals, regardless of said institutions beliefs.
i'm guessing that's the reason
do you know that i don't care and you're still being an apologist for a shitty bigoted organization??? seriously, the onus is not on gay people to tolerate their oppressors, especially ones as notorious as the fucking church of LDS
Prop 8, as originally worded, stated that any institution performing marriages, religious or otherwise, would have to marry any and all individuals, regardless of said institutions beliefs. If you don't see that as heinous, I don't know what to say.
Yes, the fact that gays have a lack of rights in many areas is terrible. Mormons are treated like shit in many areas as well. That is also terrible. Compounding bigotry doesn't solve anything.
Wow, you are so off base here. The Mormon church SUPPORTED Prop 8, which would have made gay marriage illegal. The entire text of Prop 8 is here:
> Section I. Title
>This measure shall be known and may be cited as the "California Marriage Protection Act."
>Section 2. Article I. Section 7.5 is added to the California Constitution, to read:
>Sec. 7.5. Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.
C'mon, son. If you're going to get into a debate with an actual gay person about a law that restricted their right to marry, you better do at least one minute of research before you make yourself look like a complete ass.
yes, i find it absolutely heinous that influential and tax-exempt organizations would have to respect basic human rights. society is going to the dogs!!!
nobody fucking cares if mormons are treated like shit because they are a shit organization (and don't face any sort of institutional oppression, even though they like to cry a lot and pretend they do!)
"compounding bigotry" listen to yourself lmfao
