I never said I steal shit. I said if I found a deck of cards with no owner in sight, I'd take it.

Much like finding a $100 bill in a parking lot.

Like jesus christ. I forgot the internet was riddled with upstanding citizens

All I did was change the word from take to steal. The deck still belongs to someone, just because you can't see them doesn't mean they stop existing while you take their cards.

I'm not even ragging on you for saying you would steal it, I'm more perturbed that you're justifying it.

This isn't like a wallet or cellphone where I could easily return it to the owner. Or even a pair of car keys, anything essential to the owner really. THEY'RE FUCKING PLAYING CARDS that are for pure entertainment purposes which some of them happen to be valuable. Some people are just dumb enough to drop thousands of dollars to create the "best"(net) deck and play with it in these events. If you're spending so much money on such a unnecessary thing, maybe you should show some responsibility and watch your things. I don't see how it's my prerogative to return it to it's careless owner. Because I've been playing for 10+ years and I've never misplaced anything meaningful.

With all that being said, I've never actually taken (stolen) a deck or anything. I don't intend to ever steal someone's things. I'm just saying if it did happen, I wouldn't bother to make an effort to find it's owner because I know I can be a better one.

edit: How else will people learn to not lose there things unless someone teaches them a lesson?

You're going through a lot of effort to justify stealing. I think you need to do some soul searching.

"I think it's bad that you're justifying your (theoretical) behavior, stealing is wrong."

"WELL THEN I'M GOING TO JUSTIFY IT EVEN HARDER!"

Really nice touch with the "won't find its owner because I can be a better one." Classy as all hell.

edit: I just realized what the term is for what you're doing! Victim blaming.

But he's teaching them a lesson, he should have the right to keep whatever he finds! Think of it as payment!

I call it "being an asshole" personally.

Why does this make me a "bad" person?

Don't get off telling me you've never found cash in the street or a basketball left at a court or anything and kept it.

Because you're trying to justify it.

Not without making an effort to find the owner, no. If I make a reasonable effort to find the owner and fail, it's not stealing.

> I don't see how it's my prerogative to return it to it's careless owner.

you can avoid the burden of returning it to its owner by simply not stealing it in the first place.

If you jump through a few more hoops and do some more mental gymnastics we might just have a carnival show going.
