/r/gaming and Twitch.tv (self.gaming)

53 ups - 124 downs = 0 votes

Hello /r/gaming subscribers.

I want to make a brief post on what happened, and answer some questions.

  1. Why were you removing the first threads about this?

Simple: They were images that did not contain enough information in a fair way. We don't want to start witch-hunts here.

  1. So why is the frontpage post about this still up?

It's an article that is at the very least, partly unbiased. The article itself isn't trying to start some kind of witch-hunts in my own opinion.

  1. You censored those threads because Chris asked you to

No. Here is what happened.

I was browsing /r/gaming/new and removed one of these images (~10 minutes before a message from anyone)

Chris from twitch.tv sent us a mod mail, asking about these threads. He showed us a few more which we had not seen (that was the same image I removed earlier). We then removed these threads.

  1. /r/gaming is a shit-hole!

Well that's not a question, and we are sorry that you think that. We are working hard on making /r/gaming a better place.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

And I'm sorry that we have let reddit down.

Once this passes, we will be making some changes

Tears dribble down my solemn cheek as the wind isolates the sounds of life. I look up to the glittering stars and squint - the brightest lights have long since faded.

I close my eyes slowly, and murmur.

"I'm sorry that we have let reddit down."

Yes, you better do. This place has turned to absolute dictatorship! Fix it!

Assurance of changes from the mods that are abusing their powers. I don't know about you, but I'm not holding my breath for any changes.

You know there is a setting that sends every post to the spam filter, if we really really had to go there. ,(We won't)

So it's not a dictatorship because you could infringe upon rights even more? If you did that everyone would leave r/gaming

/r/games and /r/truegaming are but a click away. Also basically any popular game or system has one or more of its own subreddits.

Are you seriously threatening that? That's a pretty shitty way to flex your "power".

He's saying that the things that even come close to censorship in the sense it's being lauded around here they haven't and won't do.

It's a backhanded way of exercising authority. It's like saying, "hey we could just use the nuke...we won't use the nuke, but it's available to us. "

Or it's like saying "Hey, stop yelling DONT KILL ME, I am simply petting my police dog."

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that as a threat. I was making a very bad attempt at humor. :<

Fair enough.

I would make an awkward penguin meme along the lines of "reddit mod tries to make joke to break ice, comes off as twitch admin". But you know, laziness and whatnot.
