If you happen to go to the University of Toronto, this is the facebook event. If you don't use facebook, here's a c/p from the event:

> In Professing Feminism: Education and Indoctrination in Women’s Studies, Daphne Patai and Noretta Koertge present research showing how women’s studies has come to serve a political agenda, leading to deep problems: dubious scholarship, indoctrination, and the alienation of supporters.

> Dr. Janice Fiamengo, U of Ottawa English Professor, discusses the problems of academic feminism at Canadian universities: dubious scholarship, indoctrination, dogmatic teaching approaches, limitations on free speech, effects of “equity hiring,” and the consequences for men in the humanities.

> Thurs, March 7 at 7:00 PM * McLennan Physical Labs (MP) Rm203

Smooth move by the UoT, really.

If feminists show up to protest, they'll point to the topic matter and say "Protesting discussion of Women's Studies? This is what's wrong with Women's Studies."

If feminists don't show up to protest, they'll point to the speaker and say "So, only showing up to protest the discussion if it's a male speaking? This is what's wrong with Women's Studies."

Seriously, UoT. Another male MR speaker (third in a row, I believe?) would have just warranted a little extra security. A female speaker escalates things.

While there may be a dammed if you dammed if you don't sort of thing here, how does a female speaker escalates things? I doubt the sex of the speaker really plays into things here its the content that does.

It escalates things because of the feminazis that will show up. Having another women argue against them will piss them off more than a man could in this context. She will be viewed as a tratior.

Not so much the sex as the identity. Much of the protest of Farrell centered on content completely unrelated to his speech, in an ad hominem attack (it was also misrepresented, but that's beside the point.)

the point is they had nothing to say about his speech, just character assassination about something he said previously as though that should invalidate everything else he says forever.

so a female speaker would be most interesting. maybe someday christina hoff sommers will come as well.

Heh, they'll just point outside at the rabid feminist protesters and say "THAT's what's wrong with women's studies. Thank you, good night."

Considering the woman who chairs the women's studies department helped organize and took part in that protest, it's 100% correct.

If they did that it would still be well worth a $5 donation.

There won't be any protest because they won't attack someone who's critising feminists, especially if it's other feminists. They only attacked Farrell because he was talking about men and boys, and saying that they were discriminated against, and that's not acceptable to them because in their worldview women are the only victims, there's no room for anyone else.

I saw a defaced poster of this event posted a few days ago on r/MR. It's not a definite but this may be an indication that a protest might happen.

I'm not sure about that. This is going to be a talk questioning things these kids are taught to take as absolute truth without question, things they're highly invested in emotionally and socially. Now they're going to be questioned and criticized? I don't see that going over too well, especially at a place with so many radfems.

Only time will tell though.

For anyone going there.... PLEASE BRING AS MANY PEOPLE WITH AS MANY CAMERAS AS POSSIBLE. That is your absolute best "defence" against anything that might happen.

That's my birthday. I hope to God that it is something positive and not just an excuse to bash the MRA.

Although, no matter how well the speaker orates or makes her point, feminists will find a way to warp it into "misogyny".

That video linked is fucking horrifying.

Blind rage

Seems like the feminist group generally believes that the speaker was a promoter of rape? I looked into it a bit and found an op ed, including his quote that got them riled up.

This really helps to show how bad people look when they get passionate about something they don't understand and turn off their minds. One demon in charge of the local group plants that seed and everybody believes it and is forever on video looking just as bad as the anti-black rioters in the 60s.

Smile, sweetie you're now a face of intolerance and censorship.

Ok here's the deal:

We are betting our gender wage gap dividends and we use the feminist definition of violence.

I can't imagine what the feminist response will be to this.

Just allowing Farrell to speak about another topic caused a mental breakdown for many of them.

But actually providing a forum to critically discuss and condemn academic feminism though? This may cause total nervous breakdowns on campus.

I don't know what they can do about it... Their best course of action is to ignore it 100%. Any other reaction can only reflect poorly.

"What's wrong with Women's Studies" in the title would be enough to get the feminazis into fits of hysteria and rage.
