/r/videos has turned into an all out brawl between feminists and mensrighters over the video of a fight between a man and woman. Drama everywhere, sort by controversial. The up/down count on the linked comment is intense. (np.reddit.com)

"Outrage tonight as Presidential candidate of the Anarcho-Communist Party Anita Sanskereet tried castrating Presidential candidate Gabe Newell of the National-Socialist Party. After he commented that the pledge of allegiance should be extended up to High School and have 'One Nation Under God' changed to 'One God, One Nation, One Leader'"

"Despite only pushing Anita, Gabe Newell was taken to a maximum security prison on charges of 'abusing his privileges.' When asked for a statement, Gabe only commented that 'his only crime was standing up for mentally healthy people everywhere. And that men everywhere are being forced to go against biological gender programming by being pussified by the current education system.'" Citing such example as the continuing no-tolerance policies in schools, LGBTQIAXYZ tolerance month, and free gender-reassignment/abortion surgery to anyone under the age of 12.

"Anita Sanskereet has vowed, as president of the United Nations, to outlaw capitalism (including internet currencies such as bitcoins, TF2 keys and reddit gold), dismantle the NSA 'as an old relic of statism', to shift focus away from extending literacy to 3rd world provinces to more important matters such as women in videogames and promoting Gender Studies as an academic subject, and to outlaw 'extended cannibalism' (meat consumption). However, Richard Dawkins, Vice-President candidate pointed out that her policies may escalate the terrorist attacks carried out by the Roma-Islamic Unity Front, while pointing to a chart comparing IQ with race." He later claimed police need more search powers, increased use of chemtrails, more open communication with the reptile people, and more gun control legislation are all needed. Big Red responded with "shut the fuck up" several times over.

If elected president, Gabe Newell promises to release Half-Life 3 as a console-exclusive game.

~~most~~ all of the people from srs/trp are social outcasts trying to analyze people (mostly from the opposite sex, which they have near zero experience with) for their own edification... being that they significantly lack any real life experience, any issue is a gender issue where they try to assert their misguided believes about how they think the world (which they are not apart of) works.

i was wondering when that thread was gonna show up here, the fallout of these kinds of "gender-reversal"/"dude hits chick" posts is always a fuckton of really good drama

it was posted in /r/justiceporn too, and that post is currently on the front page as well

these posts are so common, you can pretty much predict what the top comments are going to be. you can't go wrong with "equal rights, equal fights" or some variation thereof ("equal rights, equal lefts"). i swear that gets posted every time there's talk of a woman getting hit by a dude, i'm so fuckin tired of seeing it. although i don't mind it quite as much as the "be attractive/don't be unattractive" comment that's really popular right now, fuck that phrase so hard

edit: choice drama from the /r/justiceporn thread: 1 2 3

So many people using the old "teach her a lesson" argument. There are so many legal and ethical ways to go about teaching her a lesson about not punching people that don't involve violence or retaliation. And when some one brings it up (see here) they just dismiss it. How can they be so single minded, and so violently so?

>Be attractive/don't be unattractive"

is such a goddam cop-out. It makes me irrationally angry. Would you want to date a woman that horrifically shallow? Because it would be a massive turn off to me if a woman complained about being hit on by 'ugly men'.

It's such a pity-party cringe-inducing comment.

kek. Seriously, people who get this mad over internet comments should probably stay out of SRD, and get a hobby while you are at it.

There is nothing "horrifically shallow" about seeking attractive people. And attractive people do seek other attractive people, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

It's one of those easy jokes to make. Kinda like this one. It's also a great joke for a person who would otherwise have nothing to contribute to the conversation. When you factor in karma and ranking by public approval, you get the horribly regurgitated mess where people want to keep saying things they are comfortable seeing and upvoting things they continuously recognize.

Here is a comic I made that somewhat applies here. http://i.imgur.com/0KBQn2y.png

I feel like you can't really debate right or wrong from that kind of video. There was clearly something going on but we have no real idea what it was and you can't hear whatever those people are actually saying and hell you can hardly see what actually happens prior to girl into window.

Like you can't even tell what the guy is doing in the doorway, or why he's there, or what the group of people are doing. Context is fucking -everything- when it comes to "is it okay to hit person" and we have nothing but extrapolations.

Also it doesn't help that reddit just loves their petty vengeance / vigilantism and thinks that people should just have the shit beaten out of them for no reason other than 'they deserve it.'

Do you mean in the context of this video or ever? Because I can think of more than a few where throwing the first punch is incredibly justified. Though I guess that depends on how you define throwing the first punch--for example, if someone pulls a knife of you, does that count as the "first punch", metaphorically?

I gotta say, I kept watching her last punch on repeat. She appears to have good form, her guard up and land a nice right hook to his face. I think any reasonable person would respond. not to mention she already proved her potential with a kick to the groin. She was the aggressor.

It doesn't matter what happened, only which side people want to fall on in this "gender war." No matter that people got hurt or someone might go to prison for it.

That dude is huuuuge. Must have been a crazy situation. I'm genuinely curious what made her hit him.

Speculation from an asshole: she thought she could get away with a groin kick. Those are "funny" and don't seem as violent as a punch to the face. When he hit her back, she probably got hurt, angry and embarrassed (I would be, so). Her friends' outrage probably fueled her, and she felt she needed to get him back. That second punch was thrown with actual technique, it doesn't look like it was a sudden reaction to something - compare to his arm punches.

I bet a bunch of regulars can say that I'm the feminist Hitler or something, but all I saw was 60 seconds of two drunk looking idiots wailing on each other. Without context, all I can say is that hitting people is bad, 'mkay? I think that all gets lost in the equal lefts and misandry and misogyny and average strengths and hypothetical whatsits. Don't hit people. Don't be so gleeful about hitting people. And don't reveal that you can easily imagine yourself in the place of either person, because that tells me an awful lot about your drunken risk assessment and your uncanny ability to start shit.

For the average redditor I would say it's just a kind of vicarious revenge fantasy. For all those times a girl hit them and they felt powerless to do anything in return because, well she was a girl.

Then all of sudden you're watching a video of a personification of that social constriction get haymakered through a glass window, and not only that but there's a self-rightous "justice" that you can hide your spite behind.

I once threw a grain of sand at a kid.

Jokes aside though, SRS is hardly the originator of that term. That said, while it's valid and useful, it's pretty much as productive to whip out your sociology buzzwords on reddit as it is for a flasher to whip out his cock at a preschool. I feel the same way about philosophy words like "ad hominem," but that doesn't stop anyone.

I go to school in an extremely well off area and I've seen girls wallop guys really hard before. I don't think it's maliciously, they're just trying really hard to be "one of the guys" or "don't take no shit", and they take it too far. These aren't "rough" or "ghetto" girls. They're girls who don't know their own strength. And, it's still not okay for them to hit others.

(That's not the context of the video, but the "feeling justice cause they got hit by girls before")

It seems like a bouncer incident where 'troublemakers' are being kept out/kicked out (and kept out) of an establishment. There are more people than the big green sweatshirt wearing man involved, including several guys in blue jackets and some guy in a baseball cap in front of the green guy who is also addressing the arguing crowd in front of the door, all who seem like part of a security team. Is the green sweatshirt guy part of that team or just the other part of an altercation that lead to those people being blocked/removed, dunno.

I'm pretty sure I've figured out why reddit loves these woman vs man altercations so much - they likely salivate at the thought of being in that situation, to be justified in knocking a woman's lights out, tipping their fedora, and walking away feeling all proud and such.

I'm not saying anyone should assault anyone else willy-nilly, and if anyone hits you the proper response is to either walk away or hit them the fuck back, but seriously, reddit salivates over this shit: "OH MY GOOD GOD A WOMAN HAS HIT A PRECIOUS MALE! IMAGINE GENDER REVERSAL AND HE'D BE IN 10,000 PRISONS! NOW IF I WERE IN THAT SITUATION (A MAN CAN DREAM) OH MAN I WOULD ASSERT SO MUCH DOMINANCE OVER HER! MMM THANKS BIOLOGY FOR MY SUPERIORITY!"

There are those few places that require you to try to flee I think. Some places require you not to use disproportionate force. Cops might consider punching her through a window to be disproportionate.

  • [-]
  • xafimrev2
  • 15 Points
  • 05:17:28, 4 November

Disproportionate force is rarely how hard did someone punch someone else vs how hard did they get punched. It is usually he punched me so I stabbed him. Or he punched me so I beat him repeatedly until he was unconscious. Yeah that isn't proportional.

  • [-]
  • elos_
  • 8 Points
  • 03:30:21, 4 November

I don't think when he threw that punch he thought "This will send this girl tumbling back through a window", I think he just punched. If someone started wailing on me and I pushed them away in desperation and they stumbled and fell onto a curb and cracked their head open and died, I shouldn't be arrested for using disproportionate force, right?

I know it's an exaggeration but I think you get my point. He threw a punch in return for a punch, how she reacted to it should have little bearing on his punishment imo, at least in this case.

Intent > consequences. His intent was self defense. Her intent was to harm others.

Woah, let's not get it twisted. Yeah he was defending himself but his intent was retaliation, not defense of his well being/life. That doesn't make him wrong but let's not get the intent fucked up here. Retaliation is not worse than assault but it's still not defense.

You're not grasping what I'm saying.

He was not an aggressor and he was defending himself, but his intent was not defense of his well being or life, it was retaliation. There's a distinct difference there. That doesn't make him wrong and it doesn't make him an aggressor, it just makes him retaliatory. If we're going to talk intent we might as well get it right.

Kantian ethics are great for an internal moral system, but a shitty, shitty way to judge others. From the perspective of the outsider, consequences > intent, since I have to take your word for what your intent was.

> few places

A lot of places here in the states require that you retreat long before being allowed to retaliate. Some factors like if you own the residence/business, ability to flee, pursuit, and a few others can play into it though.

> disproportionate force

I don't know of anywhere that says you CAN use disproportionate force. Usually disproportionate force is spelled out more like you can't bring a gun to a fist fight sort of thing unless you fear for your life, not that he jolly green giant in this case couldn't defend himself(assuming of course he wasn't required to retreat).

He seemed to be using proportionate force until she went through the window, although that could be more from her losing her balance and falling into it than the force of him punching her. He didn't straight out deck her outright or she would've been out at the start.
