This shit happens all the time. There is legitimate stuff posted there, but when I see this constant anti-semitic bullshit it makes me sick.

Because the US government (or anyone else for that matter) isn't by default lying, and you have to have some form of evidence it's lying if you want to be honest with yourself/others.

Because the US government hasn't been caught lying for the last 30 seconds, it must be telling the truth and just ignore those 100 odd cases throughout the last 90 years where the CIA and FBI were doing shady shit.

Don't get me wrong, 90% of /r/conspiracy is sky is falling posts, but you aren't going to hear news about the TPP on /r/politics.

Of course. That is why there are legitimate things posted there which attempt to provide evidence of this. This was especially importing during the Syria event. But how dare I say a sub has legitimate posts once in a while! I must be a conspiracy nut! Downvote me to show me how wrong I am!

but they don't provide evidence, they provide shaky claims that sound ominous and 99 times out of 100 turn out to be nothing.

You are basing this grand assumption on what exactly? Your intimate knowledge of the sub? This is a just a very silly statement. As I have said repeatedly, there is valid stuff posted there. I have no idea why this simple statement is so controversial. Is a lot of random garbage posted? Yes of course. I am not arguing against that, which should be infinitely clear from the first post I made.

These posts are links to news organizations or a direct twitter account. How are they invalid?

and what are these supporting exactly?

the first is news, not conspiracy. I could post kittens to /r/aww and /r/conspiracy too, and it would still be unrelated to /r/conspiracy.

The second is someone doing something illegal (trespass) and being arrested for it. Gosh, what a police state we live in.

The third is the panel who are holding an investigation deciding that they should be furloughed. It's just like 1894 or something.

So there we go. one piece of news unrelated to /r/conspiracy. One case of someone doing something clearly illegal, being arrested for it despite working high up in the government. One panel of experts who (rightly) recognised that their investigation wasn't time-sensitive.

none of this is evidence for any conspiracy.

Obviously, the community disagrees with you on what constitutes a worthy post. So I provide you with legitimate posts, and all you have to say is "nope doesn't count because it doesn't agree with my preconceived ideals on what that sub is!" Your argument is absurd.

Because a conspiracy to commit a terrorist act is not a conspiracy. Okay.

You are right, we should definitely arrest veterans for visiting a memorial made in their honor. Also, I have not made the claim we are living in a police state.

A panel investigating the practices of a government entity that many believe is violating the rights of citizens has been frozen. Meanwhile, that massive and expensive organization remains functional during the government shutdown. This is in no way related to what should be posted in a subreddit dedicated to conspiracies! You are so right on that!

Edit: Grammar.

>Because a conspiracy to commit a terrorist act is not a conspiracy. Okay.

not the kind /r/conspiracy care about, no.

>You are right, we should definitely arrest veterans for visiting a memorial made in their honor.

so you didn't even read the links before you copy pasted them?

>Meanwhile, that organization massive and expensive organization remains functional during the government shutdown

doing nothing illegal and doing a shitload of essential work. Should we just shut the US military down too while the shutdown goes ahead?

What does that have to do with legitimate stuff posted to /r/conspiracy?

The answer to that question isn't necessarily relevant to the topic of post quality on /r/conspiracy

Of course it is. As I said, there is legitimate stuff posted there.

If we assume the government doesn't always tell the truth, which is obviously a true statement, that is far from saying /r/conspiracy is identifying and accurately depicting these situations in their posts. The probability of them doing that is actually pretty low.

How are these posts not accurately depicting the truth? In what way are they illegitimate?

They largely depict the truth, yes, but the real question is why was the Monsanto one submitted to /r/conspiracy?

Monsanto is viewed as a corporation intent on controlling global food supplies. True or false, evidence of this claim is abundant and often posted. This particular post is showing obvious hypocrisy and bias towards Monsanto.

Veterans arrested along with other people for trespassing on a private property is a conspiracy. Ok, and did you know they do this every year with the sole purpose of getting arrested? They're part of a group and want more exposure.
