Considering one of the most important parts, and rule number 1, of telling a story, whether it be in picture or print, is to focus on people. And action shots are always considered more valuable and interesting. So yeah, it makes complete sense that the picture is of the artist working on their work.
It's a picture of something she was working on, taken by someone else. Presumably she would like to be in it, which is A) normal and B) unremarkable, or at least it would be with a guy. It doesn't necessarily mean she was hoping you would comment about her ass. There's a cat in the picture too, is the cat begging for your attention? Think that cat is just secretly cruising for creepy guys to talk about it?

I wouldn't be surprised if there was actually a /r/gonewildcats, there's plenty of parodies of gonewild out there. Three I know of are (all SFW) /r/avocadosgonewild, /r/toastersGW, and /r/gonewilder.
