probably because it's a well-known slightly embarrassing grown man's hobby, my first husband (who was a super-manly scotch-drinking bodybuilder in his above-basement hours) had quite the model train setup going on, but very few people in his life knew about that

Looks like you post to /r/bicycling and /r/grandtheftautov. How would you feel if you bought GTA5 when it came out or an expensive trainer, and the store never shipped it, and you try to get a refund? Is it just a teenager's game to let out angst aggression? Is bicycling a waste of time, just a gimmick to see who's faster at moving their legs and shifting body weight?
No, it's your fucking hobby, you do it because you enjoy it. And you'll spend money on it because you enjoy it. I don't go around knocking people for liking model train sets even though I wouldn't spend my own money on it.
They do have a pretty bad reputation compared to other card games like poker...

I really wish I could talk about it, but legally, I cannot. I don't have anything per se against MGT, but I can honestly say that one entire segment of the gaming world literally ruined my life for the better part of a year. I'll shut up now. The whole situation has left me utterly despising every single thing about table top and card crap. From DnD to Pokeomon.
