In Final Fantasy XIV, it's common practice for big Free Companies (guilds) to offer to carry undergeared or underexperienced players through one of the tougher bosses in the game.
This thread began with an allegation that a certain FC was sabotaging others' attempts at killing the boss so as to make their own offer of assistance seem more appealing.
Where things got interesting, however, was when the alleged perpetrators also turned out to be moderators of the subreddit in which said complaint was posted.
As such, the mods found themselves in the unenviable position of being forced to simultaneously defend their actions in-game (it was just a joke, tee-hee) and to uphold their obligation to delete witch-hunt comments. Needless to say, there's quite a bit of talk about conflicts of interest, mods abusing their power to save their own asses, covering up the truth, etc.

Looks like one of the FFXIV mods is involved with the guild involved in supposedly sabotaging and selling runs.
There was an in-game chat about such things and no actual screenshots of it happening. The person in question has already stated it was a joke by someone else in the FC, which is what the screenshot shows.

People just trying to cover their asses at this point now that they have been figured out. Why dont you try modding instead of covering your OTHER mod's asses. Do your job here or leave, there are plenty of other people who could do it better
Figured out? There's now an entire video to show sabotaging never happened.

I'm not even on the server this whole "sabotage" discussion was about. There's also a video posted by someone else what really happened, and there was no sabotage.
