The phrase 'dog whistle' comes to mind, when these types start talking about 'gentrification'.
Like... a dogwhistle that secretly means, "middle class white people suck"?
I'd give a proper response, but you'd probably just delete my comment like you did the last time this topic was brought up. Mumbling something about "race-baity", was it?
It's poor form for a mod to try to elicit a response so they can delete the user's comment again.
Uhhhh... I'd totally forgotten about that (we get a lot of modmail, as you'd expect) and I don't go around replying to people's comments just so I can delete their replies to me.
As it is, yes, the comment tree of yours we deleted before was tremendously racebaity.
So yeah, you're making a bunch of flatly incorrect assumptions and presuming bad faith, don't do that
>the comment tree of yours
If you'd deleted the entire comment tree, there wouldn't have been an issue. You were very selective in which view was deleted.
There's still not an issue because yes you were being racebaity and no that's not allowed here and no we're not going to reinstate any of the deleted comments.
If my comment was race baity, so was the comment I was responding to. The guy was literally arguing in favor of a group that was actively practicing racial discrimination.
Yet his comment was left as was. Trying to keep out white people because of a fear of property values rising is not principally different from trying to keep out black people because of a fear values will drop. Pointing out this similarity is not 'race baity'.
Even if you think the comparison is invalid, its not baiting- and if it somehow is, then certainly so is supporting racial discrimination.
> Trying to keep out white people because of a fear of property values rising is not principally different from trying to keep out black people because of a fear values will drop.
dear mother of my holy savior, you really freakin' believe this don't you
Somebody didn't read the article.
sigh
OK, here's the difference. I can't believe I actually have to explain this.
In one situation - whites moving into black neighborhoods - the amount of socioeconomic advantage whites have over blacks is significant. Property values increase, literally forcing blacks out of their homes.
In the other - blacks moving into white neighborhoods - the only thing that affects property values is racism, the mere existence of a black person in the neighborhood.
THAT'S THE HORSEFUCKING DIFFERENCE
