For some reason, a few people take issue with the analogy that "If you really need a description of Dianne Feinstein's view on guns, picture Hitler's view on Jews." (np.reddit.com)

Some people, perhaps only those whose ancestors were liquidated in the Holocaust and perhaps those sympathetic to said plight, might view it as a colossally insensitive analogy to invite comparisons between curbing or banning an inanimate tool that is voluntarily used to commit violent acts with the literal attempt to completely eradicate a race of people from the face of the earth, an event which in the real world cost 6 million people their lives and unspeakable suffering for others, all while precisely zero people have died because of attempts to ban or curb the aforementioned tool. Maybe they're crazy oversensitive bleeding heart types and this is a reasonable comparison to make though, I don't know.
Yeh tell the people in Chicago that were killed by gang bangers that the super strict gun ban didn't kill them /s
Ah, yes Chicago, the fabled orbital floating magical city, cut off from all the world and unable to be accessed from people coming from elsewhere.
You are aware you couldn't carry a concealed weapon by legal means. So gang bangers had guns and you are shit out of luck unless you break the law.
Obviously you are not aware
> So gang bangers had guns
And why might that be, pray tell?
Because they don't follow the law dipshit.
Fuck the people playing by the rules and let them suffer to the people that don't. That is my point. Holy shit it is really simple.
You don't think the flooding of major American cities with vast numbers of guns is the very crux of the problem?
You are blaming the tool not the villain.
Enforce the laws on the books.
Every single other developed nation that has managed to reduce gun killings down to an near-nominal amount are the same places where it's not considered normal to waltz into a local supermarket and buy a machine gun whenever you feel like it.
I'm sure you would label that 'mere coincidence'.
There must be some other magical factor involved, right?
You cannot buy a machine gun in the United States without a fingerprint and background check. Criticizing US gun policy is one thing, criticizing it based on ridiculous falsehoods is another entirely.
Wow really you can just go in and buy a machine gun from the super market? Wow you are dumb.
Also Canada and Norway would like a word with you. Also America is like every other country am I right? Of course they are interchangeable. Not like we have a divisive culture or War on Drugs, major immigration problems. Completely the same.
God damn are you dumb. Keep skating the problem. No it's the guns not the culture, health problems, mental problems, or socio-economic factors. It's just the guns, an inanimate object
You're aware that the vast majority of guns used in Chicago crimes come from outside the city, in places without strict gun control?
I'm just kidding, it seems pretty obvious you're not aware of much.
Actually, take a look at page 7 of this ATF document and you'll see that the majority of firearms can be traced right back to Illinois.
>>come from outside the city
>the majority of firearms can be traced right back to Illinois.
You are aware that Chicago's strict gun laws are not shared by the rest of Illinois, right?
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2013/01/29/us/where-50000-guns-in-chicago-came-from.html?_r=0
For instance, you can drive 30 minutes to get to Cook county and buy all the guns you want. Which is what most people do. Because Chicago is not an island.
> You are aware that Chicago's strict gun laws are not shared by the rest of Illinois, right?
Sure, but they're pretty damn similar. You need an FOID to purchase a firearm no matter where you are in the state, and Cook county- to use your example- is just as restrictive as Chicago itself. For example, Chicago has a magazine restriction of 12 rounds, whereas for the greater Cook county area it is 10 rounds. Assault weapons are also banned in the entire county.
>Cook county- to use your example- is just as restrictive as Chicago itself.
You have a strange definition of "just as restrictive" considering Cook county allows gun stores and Chicago does not. Weird how you'd focus on ammo capacity and not the exponentially more relevant "can you even purchase a gun in this area in the first place, yes/no" question.
