It means that it's a fucking Assault Rifle.
That's what the fucking AR in the name means, dumbshit.
He's playing "Assault Rifle Semantics". Awhile back the NRA determined that the term "Assault Rifle" was a political liability, even though the NRA called the AR15 Assault Rifles in their magazines up until the late 80's . So they made a big push to change the name for assault rifles to "Assault Weapons". Then when assault weapons became somewhat of a political liability, the term now is "Modern Sporting Rifle".
Once that becomes a political liability, I suspect the next term will be something like "freedom pillows" or something equally less threatening for something everyone knows is a damn assault rifle.
It stands for Armalite Rifle and is a semiautomatic. It is an assault rifle, but that's not what the AR stands for.
Not to "laymen" it fucking doesn't.
And how "automatic" it is doesn't make it less capable of being used to assault.
I am a layperson. I've never fired a gun in my life and know next to nothing about guns. I just wanted to toss a fact in there. Chill out.

I have an issue with accepting the mutation of terms for political purposes.
It's a fucking Assault Rifle, plain and simple.
Just because the marketing department decided it would be better to sell them as toys for fat fucks in America doesn't change the fact that they are Rifles designed to be used in Assault scenarios in wartime.
I'm not doing anything for political purposes. Adding facts is not a political maneuver. I hate guns. What I also hate is willful ignorance and loudmouthed browbeating in situations that don't warrant it because all it does is make reasonable people who despise gun culture look like you, which in this conversation has been the rough equivalent of watching anarcho capitalists go on an angry random tear about socialists ruining America because taxes and roads and schools. We're on the same team here.
