Mod of /r/guns previously shadowbanned for votegaming enters a thread to votegame a thread after two days of /r/guns votegaming. (self.SubredditDrama)

SubredditDrama

127 ups - 43 downs = 84 votes

This all started three days ago, with a downvote brigade of /r/gunsarecool that took down the next two and a half days worth of posts. Townsley takes the votegaming to /r/modhelp, and apparently was followed in by several /r/guns folks who were already banned for votegaming.

tl;dr So then the redditors banned for votegaming start votegaming a thread about votegaming.

UPDATE: Thread is nuked, all you really need to see is this screencap (look at downvotes on thread - right side):

Bonus drama after progunner /u/ismellmy_poop joins in:

http://i.imgur.com/Ww04XA4.jpg

SUPER POPCORN UPDATE: /u/shadowhce, mod of /r/guns has threatened Townsley with doxxing. He is now posting Townsley's prior usernames in thread.

Here is a link to the overall thread, it's short so the whole thing is worth the read.

One /r/progunner, rotating_equipment, states:

>I think you don't make any friends with the content of your subreddit (e.g. "If this Redditor Snaps"). It seems that if you poke a beehive with a stick, you're going to get stung. A quick visit to your subreddit and looking at the content/sidebar/etc makes me think it's purposefully tailored to be inciteful and inflammatory. Link

/u/Townsley responds

>/r/guncontrol is an alternative that contains no inflammatory content - but it's been vote gamed by his hardcore base for 3 years. So what would his explanation be for that? /r/gunviolence is a new alternative with no inflammatory content that has been downvoted since day one. In fact, a bunch of people have been shadowbanned for vote gaming /r/gunviolence, including a mod of /r/guns, hotelcoralessex. Link

/u/robotevil, who is clearly trolled by three days of votegaming both in /r/gunsarecool and /r/modhelp, is teenybit less diplomatic:

>This is blatant vote manipulation by gun nuts and Tea Party types. Nothing more than a continuation on what's happening in /r/GunsAreCool and a sad attempt at gas lighting. Fuck you in participating in making Reddit worse and subverting the democratic process of voting here. You should feel ashamed. Link

Then mod of /r/guns, /u/shadowhce (formerly /u/hotelcoralesssex), shadowbanned for votegaming in /r/gunviolence, chimes in to taunt Townsley:

>Awww are those GoT days catching up with you? Link

Pondlife responds:

>How long til your next shadowban for brigading?

Other, minor slapfights in thread, with the original positive votes for Townsley et al all negative after the thread invasion.

Oooh modhelp drama. This is different.

I carry this aura around me. No clue how I got it. I am the evil version of what Mark Dreher calls himself - the Shekinah (shout out plug to /r/MarkDreher) the second coming of the evil anti-Christ to most gun owners.

When in reality I mod with a bunch of circlejerkers and braveryjerk peeps in 100+ subs.

You run the political version of /r/niggers. You and everyone in your sub propagates ignorance, hatred and fear against a group of people you don't like and refuse to understand, only because you disagree with something as stupid as a political opinion. You and a couple others freely troll the gun subs looking to start arguments, and surprisingly, you're allowed to do so... whereas on the other hand, your sub is a self-manufactured echo chamber that bans anyone with a dissenting opinion that doesn't go along with your malicious, hate-filled circlejerking.

You aren't interested in this even being a political issue to discuss. It's almost impossible to describe the illogical trainwrecks that passes as a 'debate' with you and your ilk, so I just encourage people to go through your post history. What you have is an anger so irrational and unbridled that it's consumed everything you do. Every moment you spend on Reddit is spent in that sub or in the gun subs starting arguments. You are just as insane and crazy as the 'gun nuts' you despise so thoroughly.

And, after all that, then you whine to the mods over and over whenever you get downvoted in return, because it's clearly evidence of an insidious plot to "vote game" you, despite the fact that Reddit doesn't actually have any rules about being subscribed to a subreddit you hate just to downvote shit. And you even went so far as to say that it's because of a massive NRA conspiracy against you? Seriously? How fucking big is your ego?

And you can't figure out why people hate you and your sub?

A fuckin' mystery is what it is. Doubt even Scooby and the gang could crack this one.

A political version of /r/niggers? If you're against guns you are literally a racist piece of shit. Lol. From a neutral standpoint it's pretty clear /r/gunsarecool gets constantly brigaded by pro-gun people. Isn't the second amendment there to ensure free speech is upheld? Slightly ironic that the /r/guns people will attempt to block speech that disagrees with them.

You do realize that "Freedom of speech" Only applies to the goverment, right? That private individuals, such as Reddit, can take away your "freedom" by deleting your threads and subs if they so desire for any or no reason at all, right?

Freedom of speech is a principle that goes beyond merely just what the First Amendment says.

Except not all speech should be free.

You think that "freedom of speech" would be an excuse, for example, for me to give someone who wants to assassanate the president the president's agenda and schedules?

This is a sub on reddit where people disagree with you, so you try and silence them. How could you even try to make that comparison?

So if I was against gay marriage and made a sub with constant lists of "FAGGOTS KILLED BY AIDS", and a "DAILY HOMO BEATDOWN COUNT", you'd celebrate it as a bastion of fair political discourse and defend the people in it from the rightly-deserved backlash they would receive for associating with such a sub?

That's a bad analogy, not wanting people to have guns is not the same as not wanting people to get married because they're gay. You can't help being gay whereas owning a gun is a choice.

A better analogy would be an anti-drug sub that mentions statistics about how many people are killed by drugs and how many deaths could be stopped.

Also "FAGGOTS KILLED BY AIDS" is far far more offensive than anything posted in /r/gunsarecool (after a quick look through the sub).

> You can't help being gay whereas owning a gun is a choice

That's completely missing the point. Racism, gay-bashing, and antisemitism isn't 'bad' because we've compiled a little list of 'personality features it's okay / not okay to hate'. It's bad because hatred is bad. Grouping a bunch of people together is stereotyping, and I'm pretty sure when I learned that wasn't a nice thing to do, it had nothing to do with certain stereotypes being okay and some being not okay.

By saying that we can't bash blacks or gays because they can't change the color of their skin or their sexual orientation, well, you're saying it's okay to bash Muslims and call them terrorists and ragheads, because guess what, you can take your hijab off and change your religion whenever you want. I like guns because they're a hobby, I enjoy marksmanship, and I'm good at it. You think someone who really likes Islam is any more capable of suddenly changing their interest in it more than I am suddenly losing my interest in a hobby?

Are you serious? You think hatred for chosen beliefs and political affiliates is exactly as bad as hating someone for something they have been since birth?

quoth wikipedia

> The Jews, also known as the Jewish people, are a nation and ethnoreligious group originating from the Israelites (Hebrews) of the Ancient Near East

> The Jewish ethnicity, nationality and religion are strongly interrelated, as Judaism is the traditional faith of the Jewish nation

Emphasis mine. Historical antisemitism is as much racial as it is religious.

I should also point out that purely anti-religious discrimination is looked down upon for many reasons, none of which apply to gun lovers. For example, Christianity in the Outer Hebrides is an utterly ingrained part of their culture, where almost no shops open on Sundays. Being born and growing up there, subscription to this is not an active choice. Religion and belief work on an entirely different level to a love of deadly weaponry.

Can you really not see how shitty an analogy this is?

  1. GrC doesn't use anything close to language like "faggots" or "homos". No comparable language even exists for gun owners.
  2. The posts listing victims of gun violence are not celebrated. These are sad statistics and stories. No-one is happy with a child is shot by his brother.

Yeah, because constantly referring to gun owners as 'small-dicked, inbred, hillbilly, redneck homophobic racist gun-nut Sandy-Hookers' isn't hate speech at all. Neither is constantly comparing them to serial-killers and child-murderers. Never minding the fact that everything Townsley said on the matter is full of nuggets of troll-baiting, like in his very post in this thread like:

>up your usual "nuh uh faggot" rhetorical denialism

>you resort to crying about "faggots"

>if 140,000 redditors like you wouldn't run in calling people "faggots"

But frostiken, remember that time I did a search on your profile and found the word "faggot" 20-30 times? Why do you think I am bringing up the word "faggot" now?

Because you say it.

>You run the political version of /r/niggers.

It's ironic that of all the gun owners to make that comparison, /u/frostiken would be the one. You have called so many people "faggot" that of all the homophobic fanatical gun owners on reddit that takes quite some balls. I love that it is coming from NRA base composed mostly of white, rural, southern, poor, low information and low education folks renowned for their intellectualism.

Thanks for not calling me a faggot today in your reply.

We post science from Harvard on the sidebar - if you want to call them ignorant take it up with them. We allow as much dissent as we can handle - if 140,000 redditors like you wouldn't run in calling people "faggots" and "niggers" while downvoting and spamming ridiculous NRA talking points, we would let you all in. We hate the rules but we have to have them.

Right now, we just want you to leave us alone and send in the ones who are smart. When we destroy your talking points with Harvard research, over and over and over, we often take great pains to clarify it and explain the rationale while you take up your usual "nuh uh faggot" rhetorical denialism peppered with your cherry picked stats.

Basically, you have 40 gun subs and 140,000 subscribers in /r/guns. When you get whooped on by the specialists in /r/gunsarecool you resort to crying about "faggots" and how we are TOTALLY trolling you by posting science from Harvard and think we deserve the downvotes.

Well, you could just not go to the sub and downvote, or stalk my history and show up here as you did just now? You could just walk away. It's really not a big deal, the sub is tiny in comparison to /r/guns. Stop vote gaming it and you won't see posts like this.

And this is why I said it's impossible to describe the kind of warped insanity that happens when people engage you. You literally accused me of only being here because I'm "stalking" you. It wouldn't happen to be because, I don't know, I'm subbed to SRD.

No, it's clearly because the NRA is paying me to do this.

Disagree with how widespread and easy-to-access firearms are in the USA. These things have real consequences. GrC frequently posts, for example, the deaths of children and infants at the end of a firearm. These things do not occur at anywhere near the same rate where I live.
