I'm so sick of the gamer beardbabbies crying over the "fake gamer girl" thing. Ninety percent of the time they're calling her fake based on how she looks. The fake versus real gamer girls pictures make it even more obvious: the "fake" girl is always dolled up while the "real" girl is plain.

So, here's a question:

I'm not hot. I'm ok looking and overweight. If I wear make up and dress to make myself look better that's false advertising, right? And even if I do these things because I like them and the way they make me look/feel I am doing them for male attention because my motivations don't count. If I just wore an oversize sweatshirt and sweatpants all the time with no makeup or hairstyling, that means I've given up. Where is the middle ground?

Or maybe she just kicked your ass in Halo and is celebrating. But that couldn't be because girls don't play games, right?

I have an amazing friend who would sit in her living room with a bottle of wine and play Street Fighter 4 online. She stayed silent the whole game until she won and then would yell "You just got your ass kicked by a girl playing Vega!" The mad was hilarious!

I could be going out on a limb here but I think the subtext is:

-They are not sleeping with me.

-Therefore, they must not be involved in the scene.

thisthisthisthis. although i honestly think you could do away with the word 'pretty', and replace the word 'sleeping' with the words 'wanting to talk', and it'd still ring true.

>-If there were any girls involved in the gaming scene, they'd be wanting to talk with me.

>-They are not wanting to talk with me.

>-Therefore, they must not be involved in the scene.

yeah seriously, still think that works. women become 'girlllss who ACTUALLY play games' when they allow these shitlords into their lives and the shitlord feels this strokes his ego. women who don't want to have anything to do with a shitlord (maybe because she doesnt want to pander to their shitty shit) is a 'faker girl gamer who is just faking and bad and OH GOD WHY WONT SHE DO WHAT I WANT HER TO DO IM SO AMAZING what is this'.

>> Some of these girls are just attention whoring. When I hear "gamer girls" in a derogatory way…They are saying they're something they're not for attention.

there supposedly are only some, but then the derogatory phrase to refer to them is... "gamer girls"? even ignoring the crucial flaw of that premise, and the infantilisation that often accompanies the term "girl", your term overtly expresses hatred towards all women that can be considered "gamers", rather than only the supposed subset of those, the "some"

When did videogames become "nerdy" anyway?

I realize I'm fucking old by reddit standards, but I got that "nerd" label by doing shit like debate team, academic olympics, quizbowl, and mathletes. And the jocky types hung out at the arcade as much as anyone.

But wtf do I know? My favorite video games are clearly aimed at 8 year old children. Professor Layton 4eva.

There have been plenty of posts about exactly that. Women's tournament? Girl's night?

Let me tell you it is a misandry for excluding those men and they'll throw out mangry blocks of texts with the hundreds of others informing you exactly that whenever one of those threads show up. Someone brings up the lack of women at other events or tournaments? Biotruths. Not to mention the inevitable transphobia and deliberate misgendering when some of those women don't adhere to their regressive views on gender identity.

When these guys aren't having sexual fantasies about 15 year olds, they're criticizing everything they do (gamer girls, all of r/cringe and r/cringepics, etc.)

Leave the teen girls alone. It's an obsession with all of these ebloooblooopluribusunumophiles. I guess if you make them hate themselves while they're young, they'll be so insecure that they'll do whatever you want instead of, you know, having a strong sense of identity as adults. That's the thing, some people hate e-sports in a similar way. A lot of people in the hobby have an issue with one thing and symptoms of it(?) - seeking broader appeal.

now people STICK THEIR FINGERS ON MY GLASSES to check if they're real! cause stranger smudge marks are so fun to look at instead of the outside world.

I meant incredibly mainstream. This isn't the 70's, guys. Computers, technology, and video games of all kinds are EVERYWHERE and used by EVERYONE. Seriously, I think the only gaming subculture that still exists is board games and table top RPGs. Even then I think you'd be hard pressed to be ostracized for those hobbies outside of high school.
