Recently, according to Democrats, working and paying bills is a choice, and you shouldn't do either.

Recently, according to Republicans, working and paying bills is a choice, and the rich shouldn't do either.

See how baseless and stupid that sounds?

I'll just leave these here. Working is a choice you shouldn't have to make.

You do realize that labor demand and the population has changed in the last 50 years right? People are actively being rotated out for machinery and outsourcing, and the major point is that we shouldn't HAVE to work 60 hours a week just to survive. We have effectively evolved past the point where that is required, and even if it was required, we have such an enormous surplus of fresh laborers that we couldn't possibly provide everyone with a full-time job!

And just to make sure, you do realize they're talking about cutting down a 60 hour workweek down to a 35 hour bit as well? If I throw those into a fucking calculator, then you're basically advocating that people should work 7 days a week at 8.5 hours per day. Even my father, who works EMS for 12 hour shifts would call that insane, and he probably makes 3 or 4 times as much money!

We don't live in the fucking Middle Ages anymore. If you're going to poorly compensate people who are able and willing to perform services on you or your company's behalf, then you're goddamn right that those people are going to cut corners and try to do the least amount of work possible for you. This isn't about making people lazier, it's about making people live comfortably and more importantly: healthy.

And good job posting a video where the first face on the screen is Paul Ryan, the guy who vehemently supports the reduction of teacher pay and the Department of Education budget in general. If you are such a staunch supporter of training people to be oh so dutiful and hard working, then you'd think a decent and meaningful education would be a pretty good place to start, huh?

Im all for getting rid of the terrible districting and going with charter schools where good teachers make money and bad teachers get fired and are jobless, yes.

60 hour work weeks aren't that bad. 12 hours a day is pretty easy compared to what I work now in the Army. I dont remember the last time a civilian had to stay up, and actually work for 48+ hours.

Also people who work 12 hours a day are the minority in the regular job market. The average work week is like 43 hours.

If you have to work 60 hours a week to survive, something, somewhere is fucked up.

I work on average a little under 40 hours a week in an unskilled job and make enough to not only live, but save.

Most people who work that much are professionals. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.

I'd also wager a portion of people who aren't professionals and still work 60+ hours are in debt up to their eyeballs and have no other choice.
