Two years after San Jose schoolgirls branded a teacher as a "perv" and "creeper" who inappropriately touched kids and peeked into their restroom, a civil jury Friday found the children and their parents financially liable for defamation in a case that pitted the rights of the accused against the aim of reporting perceived abuse.

Highly relevant to the shortage of male teachers and early childhood carers.

>[Early Childhood Council CEO Reynolds] believes, and is backed up by Ministry of Education research, that young men are discouraged from teaching in early childhood and primary school roles because they are vulnerable to false accusations of improper practice or abuse in teaching situations.

>Fears of child abuse claims and a perception that teaching at a primary school is a woman's job have led to Southland maintaining New Zealand's lowest rate of male primary school teachers since at least 2002.

>"I think men get a reasonably hard time when they go into the early childhood workplace. They are treated with a degree of suspicion and have to prove themselves more than women do." [Massey University, associate professor of Early Years Education Dr Claire McLachlan]

Africa is hundreds of countries and New Zealand is one. There's your first mistake. Your second mistake was equating some bullshit first world issue with starvation, genocide, and colonialism.

As your comment said, Africa =/= the world. Therefore by using your logic, it shouldn't matter to us.

You said it.

I'm curious as to how you got all that from my posts. Particularly the emotional part. You're the one already resorting to name calling.

You're right. NZ is far more egalitarian than the majority of other nations. Hence why there is less political resistance to discussing men being unfairly treated due to gender stereotypes.
