[Meta] Alright, it's been a while since we've had a conversation about brigading, but apparently it's that time again (self.SubredditDrama)

Seriously, this thread was linked on srd here, and it is currently the top link on our front page. It's a four day old submission with a score of zero in an active subreddit, yet comments like this one made an hour ago have scores that look like this:
>PrincessPeach89 [S] -35 points 1 hour ago (9|44)
Here is a snapshot of the post as of the time I'm making this thread. Any comment timestamped "August 22nd" was made today. The post is from August 18th.
This is the kind of activity that gets people shadowbanned and gets subreddits in danger of being banned. I've always wanted to avoid going snapshot or screenshot-only, and I still do. But blatant brigading like in this thread will get the admins on us and may eventually force our hand. I know the vast majority of dramanauts abide by the rules and I would hate for all of us to be punished for the actions of the subsection of SRD that can't seem to understand "look, don't touch." Everyone that doesn't vote or comment in linked threads: thank you! As to the people that aren't controlling themselves: Cut that shit out, it makes us all look bad and is against reddit's rules.

SRD has 75,259 subscribers.
Currently 900 users active (as of time of posting).
Example post provided by mods has a total of 53 votes.

So we're upset over 53 people out of an active 900 from a user base of 75,259?
Someone remind me why this is an actual problem?
>it makes us all look bad and is against reddit's rules.
53 people out of 75,259 is representative of the whole?
If that's how you judge things it's no wonder the world is so scary and sad to you.
> I know the vast majority of dramanauts abide by the rules and I would hate for all of us to be punished for the actions of the subsection of SRD
Did you even read the original post...?
Do you even understand numbers?
Are you trying to be intentionally difficult?
It would appear that you are trying to reach a goal where ZERO users post. Do you actually believe that is feasible? If yes then you've answered the previous questions for me.
Optimally yes, the goal would be that zero users post or vote . Do I expect to reach absolute zero? No. This is a reminder post though, and we've gained a lot of new subscribers since our last meta post about brigading. Hopefully they will see this thread and realize that is not what srd is about
So they'll ignore the sidebar?
They'll ignore the constant reminders in every thread?
But this thread, this will surely remind them?
Why can't you be happy that only 53 people out of 75,000 disobeyed the rules?
We should always be striving to improve. If this thread works, great. If it doesn't, what harm has been done?
>I want to feel like I did something
>What harm has been done?
First thing that's a very shitty defense.
Secondly, and more important to you, is that this sort of trivial bullshit further erodes mod respect.
You find a post where hundreds of SRD users are fucking things up and you've got a valid point. Crying about 53 people out a 1000 is beyond ridiculous.
If you feel that this issue needs to be brought up every so often, that's fine. Just make a meta post that says "Reminder, don't vote/post in threads".
Leave off the crying and weak threats.
>First thing that's a very shitty defense.
Lol, I don't need to defend making a mod post reminding people not to vote/comment in linked threads.
>Secondly, and more important to you, is that this sort of trivial bullshit further erodes mod respect.
If reminding people not to vote/comment in linked threads erodes their respect for me, I probably didn't want it in the first place.
>You find a post where hundreds of SRD users are fucking things up and you've got a valid point. Crying about 53 people out a 1000 is beyond ridiculous.
You're assuming only 53 people voted or commented in that thread, which is stupid. You're basing it off the one comment I linked as an example, ignoring the massive amount of downvotes and comments that have appeared throughout the thread.
>If you feel that this issue needs to be brought up every so often, that's fine. Just make a meta post that says "Reminder, don't vote/post in threads". Leave off the crying and weak threats.
That's basically what this is. You seem very very upset over a very minor post. Try not to take a reminder not to invade so personally.
53 people is way too many regardless of the size of the sub. 0 is the goal. There will always be users that use SRD as a platform to brigade from but does that mean we should drop the issue entirely? The admins hate brigading and have banned subreddits and users because of it. If we don't at least try to prevent it, it won't take very long for them to ban us too.
It does make us all look bad and is against reddit's rules.
That is an unrealistic and unachievable goal.
Did you really just ignore everything I said?
> 0 is the goal.
Are your words that are unrealistic and unachievable.
And as for the rest of your post it is useless, unfounded, garbage. No sub like SRD has ever been banned.
>Are your words that are unrealistic and unachievable.
I know, I even said that in my post. "There will always be users that use SRD as a platform to brigade"
>And as for the rest of your post it is useless, unfounded, garbage. No sub like SRD has ever been banned.
What are you talking about? /r/BronyHate was banned not too long ago for vote brigading. SRD has been warned about it before which is why we have all these rules and mod announcements. SRS has been threatened as well.
Oof, try not to fall out of your chair with that reach.
You looking to discuss or just fling poo like normal?
What would you like to discuss?
It's not really a problem. It pisses people on the internet off and I actually think it's kinda funny. People get really upset over it!
But it looks like they admins have had it out for subreddits that have people who post links to other subreddits on reddit and then follow those links and then vote on those links on reddit with their reddit accounts.
So if it's a choice between trying to prevent fapping into the popcorn and the subreddit getting banned, I can live with it being treated as a problem.
Because... WAAAAAAH!!!!
