tumblr in action's kinda just swung the other way as srs at this point.
Can you actually make any arguments to back this up? If you want the opposite to SRS you're looking for /r/TheRedPill, a sub I'm proudly banned from as it happens.
I'm sick to death of the constant hate-boner SRD has for TiA.
TiA is not that bad.
The problem most people have with TiA is that they scan the front page once, maybe twice, and get offended by something and proclaim them to be fascist MRA scum who hate women.
Maybe SRD just needs to check it's sensitivity privilege...
That's actually been the title of TiA for a while :D

It's not literally Hitler, but boy is TiA a very, very bitter community.
I stopped really browsing it to a heavy extent after Transcats up and left. It just became a bit less joyous of a place. I dunno, maybe it's just nostalgia for the times when we would be making fun of people with dragon wings, but after a while of browsing the "look at this person misrepresenting feminism/fat activism/whatever" posts I just get tired. I get it. People on the internet are stupid and get in to circlejerks. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp.
Find some people with dragon wings and post them then. Lots of people miss that. It's just a pain to find anymore.
Yeah, I remember lurking other TiA threads and them basically saying otherkin and other stuff are just way outnumbered by what usually gets posted.
And, they feel pretty bad about making fun of otherkin.
Plus there's /r/OtherkinInAction.
>And, they feel pretty bad about making fun of otherkin.
This is the main thing. The majority of the community there now likes reading about crazies who purposely attack others. They see laughing at otherkin as similar to bullying the weird kids in the playground because they're just in their own corners having their own little fantasies, not attacking anyone else.
Personally I still like laughing at the otherkin as long as no one is attacking them because they're nuts. But that's why there's another sub for it. I should go there more often come to think of it.
The subreddits changed its true, but its still the same policies and stuff as when I started lurking. It's not like you guys are letting people run wild and harass people or anything and transphobic comments almost always end up downvoted.
Yep. TiA gets painted as the boogyman a lot, often by Reddit's own SJWs, but it's not that much of a bad place at all.
I miss the dragon wings.
Know what I miss? Fursecution.
I agree with you.
I just got tired of the reaction in me that so many of the submissions to TiA prompted. Now I'd rather just try to stay out of the way-too-obviously-petty Gender Wars discussions (though I still fall into those on SRD :p), and try to ignore the numbnuts who romanticize having autism to feel speshul.
Browsing TiA made me bitter. Unsubbing so I don't see all that angry shit is making me less so.
Man if that is your concept of bitterness, maybe you really do need a break from TiA
Why would I want to be angry all of the time? It's not pleasant. SRD, for all of it's flaws and for the rage it sometimes provokes, is actually rather relaxing.
The only moral issues I've had with TiA is a personal hang-up about openly mocking people who might be using their worldview to cope. I said some absolutely fucking stupid shit in high school and earlier in my life, stuff that I look back on now and cringe at, and boy would I have turned out way worse if I had been ridiculed by 30,000 odd people for them.
EDIT: Fixed a typo that caused an error in reading.

Sorry, as someone who started on SRD and is doing an opposite of you, that is patently false. SRD is the least relaxed sub ever. Nearly every top post here is a battleground. No one assumes the good in each other, they all know one another and have already created a team they circlejerk with. Even the humor here is passive aggressive and is almost always supposed to needle somebody else. Just check out the massive wars caused by Iamnoobie, shitpostwhisperer, and ValiantPie. If you had problems with TiA being angry, boy, are you in for a surprise here. Bitterness is the mot du jour here
Did a quick fix there. I meant to type "relaxing" instead of "relaxed" because the effect is personal.
That being said, part of the reason I like SRD is because it becomes a battleground. Maybe bitterness is actually the wrong word, or maybe it's that I've been finding TiA's sense of humor stale. There's only so many times I can read variations on "shitlord" before it all becomes so much noise. And, say what you will, but SRD is one of the few subs that has minimal reposts, and I like that.
So I guess you are partially correct. I tend not to think of these things too much. Reddit is idle entertainment that I'm growing more and more bored with, aside from the part of me that likes to yell at people sometimes.
> Nearly every top post here is a battleground.
what?! nooo. when people tell me that I'm a piece of shit idiot, they mean that in the kindest of ways!
Before you slander people you may want to realize not everyone looks thinks SRD is the way you see it, in much the same way you can't see why people wouldn't like the current TIA. If you really hate SRD that bad then actually quit the same way JTHipster and I did when TIA became too spiteful. Didn't you try quitting before? If you seriously take drama so seriously that you believe every topic is a war then you should consider actually finishing the deed. You're not doing yourself any favors getting upset over sarcasm based on petty internet drama. For some of us this is a place to laugh about drama, for you apparently it's a spiteful battle ground. Personally, I don't see this place like that at all.
You have followed me into an SRDD thread, told me I should be circumcised, and said I have no life. I don't know if I am supposed to take you seriously. Also, your stalking of me is getting a bit creepy
I didn't follow you anywhere. I use both SRD and SRDD quite a bit. You just happen to bring your complex everywhere (apparently here too as you brought me up for no reason and accuse me of "following you") you go and have been going on this "SRD is so negative" tangent for so long I couldn't help but fuck with you over in SRDD. That was like weeks ago and you're still livid about it. Again, if silly shit like that bothers you so much you may want to consider a change of scenery.
I'm livid? Do you need a mirror?

you can't see that people who are trans would be disappointed by someone they possibly see as a role model making cheap transphobic jokes?
also, the front page posts tend not to be that bad, but the comments in that subreddit have become pretty terrible recently.
Where the fuck did he make a cheap transphobic joke?
The tweet that started this (from what I can tell, this is the first I've heard of it) was, regarding writing strong female leads, "must value strength but also community & not have peeny/balls".
Granted he's probably sick to death of hearing that question, but his answer (joke?) was completely dismissive of transwomen. IDK that that necessarily means it's transphobic, but it's not great.
Maybe he wants to avoid having the "man with boobs" (or whatever it's called) trope attached by critics on his characters? I mean, maybe he was just trying to find some help writing a believable female character.
The person asking Whedon? Yeah probably. But that person could easily have googled to find a million interviews where Whedon answers the exact same question. I don't know how he expected some miracle answer to appear (in the form of a tweet, no less).
But female describes the biological sex, not the gender. He was entirely correct. Why shouldn't he dismiss these idiots who do nothing but try to find something they can get offended by? They just try to paint him as a transphobic.
If you're suggesting it was really a backhanded answer that was pointing out the use of "female" in the question instead of "woman", I find that a bit of a stretch, but interesting.
You know there is a difference between female and woman? "Female" is the biological term. A transwoman is still biological male even if they identify as a woman.
He was entirely correct in what he said and in no way transphobic. (It was probably just a coincidence that they used the term "female" instate of "women" but interpreting that conversation as transphobic is idiotic anyway.) But again some stupid SJWs have to get offended.
It's not a transphobic joke, it obviously wasn't directed at trans people.
I'm not here to talk about Joss Whedon, personally I think he's an annoying shitstain who tries to shove his Strong Independant Womyn fetish down everyone's throat.
I'm here to stick up for TiA, a sub that I browse everyday and think is one of the best communities on Reddit. Maybe the SRS influence has finally become too strong in SRD, it certainly looks that way when people openly lying about TiA are met with applause. Well not today.
> I'm here to stick up for TiA, a sub that I browse everyday and think is one of the best communities on Reddit.
I want to inform everyone that /u/FUCK_POSTMODERNISM is in fact a known SRS false flag (check her history, basically the only thing she does is constantly calls people SRS false flags, that's how I came to recognize her username), and her pretend idiocy and paranoia is not representative of us fine folk at TiA.
Wait, how does calling people SRS false flags make them an SRS false flag?
This makes people who dislike SRS look like paranoid lunatics, also sort of discredits in advance anyone who calls out genuine SRS false flags (like I do now). Very devious, isn't it?
I...yeah, I guess that makes sense.
Does... that make you an SRS false flag?
Possibly!
Hell, even if she isn't a false flag, I don't know If anyone would go as far as she does. We all know what SRSS became, that's why EFS made /r/theredpillcirclejerk and /r/TiAdiscussion

look at the vote totals on your and my posts before you continue with your srs is taking over reddit conspiracy.
> proclaim them to be fascist MRA scum who hate women
autistitron got upvoted for claiming it's "sexist against men" to say women don't have dicks. That's definitely indicative of a giant MRA-style victim complex.
No one said that.
"No one said what the linked comment literally says."
Ballsy.
He said that it is sexist against men to say that only females can write female characters. Not that it is sexist to say women don't have dicks.
I am a female woman who would like to write books about female protagonists eventually, maybe, if the dice is cast favorably. I do not think that you should have to be a woman to write interesting and dynamic female characters. Brandon Sanderson, Andrew Huss, and even Joss Wheadon have written some good, interesting, dynamic female characters.
I would say that telling men that they cannot write female characters well is sexist against both men and women. In one way, it's saying that women are mysterious and different, so completely different than men that no man has any hope of understanding them. They're not people, they're women. In another, it's saying that men should not even attempt to do something, that they are hopelessly stupid and incapable of empathizing with someone with different genitals than themselves.
