There isn't a lot of white dudes on reddit have a victim complex when it comes to racism on reddit. Somehow saying white dudes can't dance is the same as saying black people can't read.
Hell, most of them will try to argue with a straight face that the former is WORSE than the latter somehow. Everybody (that's white and posting on reddit) knows that the only real racism left on earth is against white people on the internet. We've got it so rough, you don't even know! I don't know how I find the strength to get out of bed every morning in the face of all the terrible oppression I have to deal with on account of my straight white maleness.
Or maybe its all kinds of people (including Indians like myself) who are just so fucking tired of all types of racism, how about that?

Motherfucker my skins browner than your fucking pasty ass by a long shot but for some reason I can hold my fucking tongue and not deliberately antagonize people based on race. I've been called sand nigger, 9-11, and apoo more times than I can imagine yet, for some reason, I can still be empathetic enough to not be such a douchenozzle. Okay so like, I actually agree with you some here. I think there is a real issue with white folks online (eh, actually, im going to use the word "privilege" here, im sorry)... with privileged folks appropriating minority anger. Its probably not the place of white folks to go around screaming at people and saying "kill whitey", or whatever else.
It can be kinda obnoxious, immature, and honestly probably not being an ally. If you have a couple PoC friends who tell you they think its totally cool and funny and edgy, but several others saying, hey, you are probably alienating our allies, even if they're "fair weather allies", and thats not really your place.

like, yes, in sociology, and in SJ circles, racism has a fairly specific definition, which doesn't generally including "hurting whiteys feelings". Yes, reddit tends to get much more bent out of shape when someone says something mean about white people, when they don't do the same about plain old fashioned racism.
I think the folks in the TBP thread were being lighthearted and circlejerking. I think people here are doing the same thing. I don't really classify that in the same category as like, if cis people were being obnoxious going around saying "die cis scum" or whatever. (I should note that I have no idea if the folks in the TBP thread are white or not, btw, and i certainly don't feel comfortable policing that shit in that sub)
I guess my concern comes in that sometimes its easy to get caught up in stuff, and ignore that we might be making minorities uncomfortable.
but idk, we run tbp pretty fast and loose, and don't really moderate based on casual opinion, unless someone is being a super over the top douchebag. Yeah, we get shit from SRD for being too SRS. We also get shit from SRS for being too TiA, so meh. yolo and all that, i suppose.
