/r/shitamericanssay a sub that highlights comments made by a special portion of America which is also the subject of satire in /r/MURICA. While this seems like a perfect couple it hasn't been love at first sight. Majority of the drama is happening in posts to SAS just saying how shit users think the sub is but I wasn't fast enough to catch them before they were removed.

As someone who comes from a country with more freedom than America, their comments about how great their country is make me chuckle heartily. What a bunch of peasants.
They (/r/shitamericanssay) have like one guy who links /r/circlebroke once a week or so. Always the same guy too, so I'm completely okay with this turn of events.
They're both retarded
I think America is a good country and I like living here.
It makes sense that they would butt heads to me. Both are satire subs making fun of America, but one is for people who hate America and the other is for people who don't hate America. So, one is self deprecating satire while the other is aimed at an outside group. Further, after looking at the comments in both subs, the comments in one are clearly acting as silly as possible, while in the other everyone is just butthurt real bad. So they are both satire of the same thing, but for totally opposite reasons.
Why is everyone on here defending /r/shitamericanssay?
They're the least retarded of the two
Give me a reason as to why. Just don't bring up the fact that you're a Canadian please. It has nothing to do with the conversation.
Shitamericansay is satire. Murica was satire but the users who now frequent it are taking it seriously - that's incredibly retarded.
I don't think you understand what the word satire means if you're calling /r/shitamericanssay satire. It makes no sense.
Because most of the people in this thread are from SAS. It's really pretty funny that they are super angry about /r/Murica being a "downvote brigade" then they run all over reddit complaining and downvoting anyone that doesn't agree.
I don't know that I've ever seen a more butthurt sub than the group from SAS.
SAS does look like a pretty shit sub. For the stuff that's actually bad like "muricans love dem guns" do we really need another sub to mock that? Even most Americans mock that. Or, DAE healthcare? So brave.
The rest of what they are attempting to mock isn't really mock-worthy, it really just gives off the feel of an inferiority complex. Newsflash to Europeans: This is an American website. Most people here are American. Get over it.
/r/ButthurtAmericans
oh the irons.
Calm down. There is no need to get upset. There's nothing malicious about it, they just enjoy laughing at the shit some Americans spew. You don't have to get so offended.
Whoa dude, relax. He's just pointing out some facts about the sub. No need to go all hitler on him
lulz. Gaslight fail.
The only people upset are the SAS downvote brigade invading this thread.
Gah, /r/murica is fucking painful to read. It's like SRS, nothing but trying-way-too-hard-to-be-cutesey deliberately unintelligible gibberish. "BRD MAY MAY MURICA STEM CISLORD PINKO JEALOUS COMMIES, now here's some giant unreadable fonts and terrible CSS to go along with them!"
I hung out in MURICA for a while.
It was lots of fun, and then some people showed up who took it seriously. They didn't get that it was a joke. I left after that started.
+1
/r/shitamericanssay is hands down the least self-aware subreddit I've ever seen. It's comical. They take the bait every single time.
I say, they do seem to be quite butt-hurt.
I find this one particularly droll, as their brigrade is more upset about the implication that soccer players fake injuries than amused by the fact that the joke is actually praising soccer player badassitude.
Isn't the whole purpose of the subreddit to "take the bait" (i.e. point out silly posts)
but they're not. they're legitimately butthurt as fuck.
It's more bewilderment actually.
I know, It's so shocking, is it not????
I think they want to point out authentic examples of Americans acting superior to the rest of the world. They're notoriously bad at discerning trolls from genuine ignorance.
Notorious eh? Any examples? Most of the top-rated posts seem to come from seemingly non-troll authors who are still posting.
I am pretty sure the thread in question serves as a shining example.
I mean, this is a great example. Who takes that seriously?
They go on to seriously discuss why Americans don't learn about what the culture is in modern Europe.
Meh, it's obviously satire, but also both unfunny and overdone. It's kind of annoying to find some kind of nazi "joke" in almost every post about Germany outside of /r/europe.
That being said, SAS really lacks satire awareness at times, but I don't think that post is a good example of it.
A lot of "satire" on reddit is recycled unfunny cliché that deserves to be pilloried.
There is so much butthurt in that sub that I'm not even sure why it exists. Like SRS, who spends their time in a subreddit dedicated to complaining about what strangers on the internet say?
They seem to be laughing at them, not complaining.
[deleted]
I post there and I really fucking love America, so it may not all be satire. Just a bit over the top.
/r/MURICA gives me a headache.
There's a shiteuropeanssay to but apparently no one goes there.
It's because no one cares about what Europeans have to say.
Well duh. Europe sucks, why would you want to go there?
>/r/shitamericanssay a sub that highlights comments made by a special portion of America which is also the subject of satire in /r/MURICA. While this seems like a perfect couple
The deal is that /r/shitamericanssay seems to offended by such things as "being American," "liking the U.S.," and "acknowledging that the U.S. is a large and diverse country."
/r/shitamericanssay comes off as non-Americans being butthurt about things Americans say, whereas /r/MURICA comes off as Americans ironically acting uber-patriotic.
That sums it up pretty well. And now SAS is butthurt about internet points as well.
edit: and the fact that your post and this one agreeing with you are getting a bunch of responses from SAS people and downvoted to shit completely supports your sentiment. Lulz at all the butthurt.
> And now SAS is butthurt about internet points as well.
Extremely butthurt. They've been following me around downvoting me and sending me angry messages for over a day now lol. I guess they can't stand being beaten so badly at their own stupid little game by someone who wasn't even trying.
Check out my post history, I'm mostly in the negatives and have people responding to me calling me a cunt and other unsavory things. Meanwhile, I'm over here just laughing at things on reddit!
you need to make another SRD thread about SAS and this thread. the original poster of this thread crying about downvotes was an SAS poster, now a deleted account.
>/ whereas /r/MURICA comes off as Americans ironically acting uber-patriotic.
That argument might hold water if it wasn't for the fact that they've brigaded the absolute shit out of a subreddit. If they were ironically acting uber-patriotic there wouldn't be a brigade still happening. People being satirical don't do things like that.
That might be many of them, but many of them also just don't care about "reddiquite" and particularly don't have a problem with it since the other sub is also supposedly a "joke" sub. /Murica has "raided" the Sweden sub in the past, and it was all in good fun. Both sides seemed to enjoy it.
The difference is instead of fighting back SAS is getting butthurt about it, but that seems to be par for the course there.
> The difference is instead of fighting back SAS is getting butthurt about it
Most people actually found /r/murica's temper tantrum funny and are happy with the boost of publicity.
Look at the votenumbers on the frontpage of /r/shitamericanssay, the top20 posts are all heavily brigaded after it got posted on /r/murica. Thats not acting ironically, thats acting extremely butthurt by /r/murica
I would venture to say the existence of both subreddits is really dumb.
I assume they are run by the same people?
/r/MURICA FUCK YEAH. BEST DAMN NATION IN THE MOTHER-FUCKING WORLD, Y'ALL!
Remove any filters to not show below a certain value to see the very sudden surge in downvotes - 23 of the 25 posts on the front page are currently in the negative (I've reported any of the direct brigades so if there are any atm I can't see them).
Oy vey.
But /r/MURICA is totally not a down vote brigade.
It's a FREEDOM BRIGADE
It really looks like there's a lot of idiots on /r/MURICA that don't know that their own subreddit is supposed to be satire. It's kind of disheartening that people can be so dumb and nationalistic.
>its kind of ~~disheartening~~ liberating that people can be so ~~dumb~~ free and ~~nationalistic~~ filled with wonderful freedom
FTFY
joking aside, i do like /r/Murica. I think its a good place to act a little stupid and have some fun with patriotism, just dont take it too far
But you're confusing all of the stupid people there.
I really doubt the majority of subscribers there are actually that patriotic IRL. /r/MURICA is a lot like /r/PCMasterRace. Both are satire of extreme examples of their respective groups (jingoistic Americans in /r/MURICA, and obnoxious PC gamers in /r/PCMasterRace), but both still have the majority of people there actually like what they're satiring.
>majority of people there actually like what they're satiring.
Which is my favorite part. Imo, if you genuinely like what you're joking about it's much more likely to be funny and enjoyable rather than just mean.
Wasn't /r/murica originally a satire of extreme patriotism?
I like the analogy of Stephen Colbert. The Colbert Report is satire of extreme patriotism, but does anyone think Stephen Colbery doesn't love the United States?
It's half-satire. It's expressing love of country in the most over-the-top way possible.
Its parody taken to the point of parodying itself.
I think its like /r/HailCorporate in that it used to be satire but its ironically devolved into what it made fun of
HailCorporate was never satire.
/r/hailcorporate was never satire. Why do people keep saying this?
... It never was? I was told it was and remember it being that, proof
pcmasterrace as well
/r/pcmasterrace was originally a subreddit for making fun of people who liked their pc?
Always thought it was a circlejerk for pc lovers
[deleted]
No it wasn't, it was a jerk sub based on a joke lifted from zero punctuation.
What do you mean by 'joke'? That the 'PC is better' is a myth and was made up by Yahtzee to sell a laugh in a video? The name came from satirizing consoles and console fanboys, that doesn't mean that the entire 'PCs are better' thing is like a joke a comedian tells where it's all made up.
> That the 'PC is better' is a myth and was made up by Yahtzee to sell a laugh in a video?
No, the joke wasn't "PC is better" the joke was "Glorious PC master race", and it was a dig at the superior attitude of some PC gamers. It had nothing to do with Yahtzee's personal view of which was better.
Have you been on PCmasterrace? It doesn't say "PC's are better" is says "All praise the lord GabeN for allowing my shrine to rise above the filthy peasents". That was the joke and what SamWhite is talking about.
> Have you been on PCmasterrace? It doesn't say "PC's are better"
It does nowadays. PCs are not only literally better to them, anyone who doesn't ONLY play PC games is a brainwashed peasant.
They actually sometimes brigade the gaming subreddits if they fine a "peasant getting uppity"
Most notably when it got banned when they messed with /r/Gaming. That word is still taboo.
>The name came from satirizing consoles and console fanboys
Yeah, that's what he was satirising.
Just check the profile of /u/jeeebus, the guy who started the topic in /r/MURICA and called the brigade. He is commenting in all the topics.
>called the brigade
Whoa whoa whoa! No one called a brigade my good man. Do people downvote /r/funny every time someone mentions them in a topic? If people downvoted /r/ShitAmericansSay, it was probably because they didn't like the godawful comments being posted there. They are, afterall, a sub devoted solely to downvote brigading so most of the posts there are lacking in substance anyway. I merely shed some light on that dingy little corner.

Stay classy /r/murica.
Best country in the world remains strong.
Downvotes are for disagreeing now?
Well they are for SAS at least, who have been foaming at the mouth to hurt me by downvoting me lol
The problem with their strategy though is not everyone actually cares about karma. If I had I would have deleted my negative posts that they've brigaded. But instead, every time they scratch and claw at me I'm like this
Downvotes are for whatever people want them to be.
You are flirting with a ban.
Speaking of which and all joking aside, I've reported that subreddit and several posts I've found on there calling for direct brigades to the mods, but if they deem it best to ban me for merely calling attention to that subreddit then so be it.
Oh you poor thing. When you fail this badly, it might be time to stop trying.
Let that be a lesson
It might be time to find a hobby.
I've just recently taken up violin! This way I can play a song to ease the pain of everyone over at SAS
I'm a long time sub of SAS, stop talking out of your ass. There has never been a post calling for a vote brigade there, ever. 9 times out of 10 people are saying the exact opposite in the comments. I also find it highly amusing how you're pissing and moaning about brigading when you cause a bigger brigade than all of that sub combined then went crying back to /r/murica after you were banned for posting in the sub, posting pictures of it in the comments of your post, essentially fanning the flames.
Edit: Here's a classic comment by you.
>>If you wanted to you could probably make a shitbritssay
>I wouldn't have any interest in something like that to be honest. I prefer upvoting to downvoting and generally try to avoid the hate mongers instead of surrounding myself with them.
After you posted this comment in /r/mildlyinfuriating
>Ba-hahahaha. No. Not in the least. My country is richer, my city has more beautiful beaches and women, I'm undoubtedly more cultured and traveled than you, and overall I'm simply better than you. You're trash.
You're a real class act.
Double edit: In fact, judging from your recent comment history, you got a huge chip on your shoulder because a post you were participating in over at /r/mildlyinfuriating was linked to /r/shitamericanssay and wouldn't you know it, the next day you post brigade bait in /r/murica. The first post you had submitted there in close to a year.
>There has never been a post calling for a vote brigade there, ever.
That's the excuse every other brigade makes. When you link comments to your butthurt brigade (no np, no less) and say you disapprove of them, that's encouraging a brigade. (a.k.a. the same thing /r/Murica did to you (not that I approve of that either)).
Lets add some context to this. This is what SAS was saying to me before I responded calling him trash.
>SAS: You didn't want to go outside in awful weather? What are you? A pussy? Oh wait, you're American, wouldn't surprise me.
>SAS: Seriously. You're a fucking retard.
>SAS: U mad bro?
> SAS: Yep, u mad.
And so of course, after arguing with this idiot, I responded with my comment:
>Me: Ba-hahahaha. No. Not in the least. My country is richer, my city has more beautiful beaches and women, I'm undoubtedly more cultured and traveled than you, and overall I'm simply better than you. You're trash.
Soooo, yeah.
edit Then we have this gem from the same guy morloca24 who has been stalking me, no doubt still fuming:
> SAS: Sigh. Stupid Americunts, can't argue with 'em.
Guy in question here, he cut out a lot of the info here.
Also, doesn't change the fact you're a hypocrite.
Also @ your comment history: seriously? You're claiming that SAS is pissed off at YOU when you talk about them in every fucking comment?
Hey! You're the guy from SAS that started this whole mess
Sup, long time no see :)
Cut the shit, you posted that gif to /r/murica.
Right, I posted a gif to blow off steam after you and SAS vote brigaded me...cause and effect my friend.
Anyway, I forgive you bro.

I've absolutely been brigaded by SAS. The majority of the people who comment and post there are completely incapable of discerning a joke from reality. I once made a comment along the lines of "Americans have a vastly superior sense of humor to Europeans. Europeans don't have as strong a grasp on sarcasm as the more nuanced American humorist."
Got linked to SAS and downvoted to oblivion. I laughed.
Just before the huge brigade from /r/murica showed up there was discussion there about only posting screenshots because plenty of us over there are sick of people voting and commenting on linked threads. There have been plenty of people banned for it to but they are now using alts.
I was actually part of that discussion :)
I was in favor of it.
Yup, the staunch supporters of that sub are swearing up and down that this doesn't happen, but they've obviously never been targetted by their brigading. The mere fact they're so pissed off at me for just posting the name of their little sub says a lot. I mean, people don't downvote /r/funny or /r/adviceanimals en masse when someone mentions them in a post...
People are downvoting SAS because they dislike their collective hatred, not because they were told to do so.
>Judging from your recent comment history, you got a huge chip on your shoulder because a post you were participating in over at /r/mildlyinfuriating was linked to /r/shitamericanssay and wouldn't you know it, the next day you post brigade bait in /r/murica. That's why people are pissed at you. The little personal vendetta you called in. You can't sit there for a second and say you didn't know what would happen posting that subreddit name into /r/murica. That's like a red rag to a bull. Do you really expect people to belive that it was total coincidence that one day after being in a linked thread you just happened to innocently stroll into /r/murica with that gif and title and had absolutely no idea what would happen?
Cut the bullshit, you've been a redditor long enough to know how this site works sometimes.
>Do you really expect people to belive that it was total coincidence that one day after being in a linked thread you just happened to innocently stroll into /r/murica with that gif and title and had absolutely no idea what would happen?
I'm not sure I take your meaning, because this is what SAS does every day. They post links directly to topics in a sub itching to dispense downvotes and hate. Yet they swear up and down they do not vote brigade and are only doing it for humor. Are you saying people post on SAS to purposely downvote people?
As for me, SAS vote brigaded me, so I posted a funny picture to a relevant sub to laugh about it and move on. But by doing so, I inadvertently exposed your small hate group to the masses, and the masses were not too pleased with what they found lingering in the reddit corners...
> That's why people at SAS are pissed at you.

I just wanted to say that I agree with you /u/jeebus. I dont care if I get downvoted by SAS.
Yup. They deleted the post after I pointed out that they completely missed the joke, but it was funny when it happened.
Its because it was in /r/CircleBroke where there is regular navel gazing over the non existent "anti american circkejerk" and a holier-than-thou attitude of self satisfied smugness. Some people don't think to much about what they're reading.
Holy shit, look at those downvotes. Those people are fucking dense.
Just look at my downvotes, I probably have about 30 SAS following me around downvoting out of spite lol.

r/Murica can't seem to decide if it's satire or not
Right now there's more drama in this thread than anywhere else. SAS people coming here to cry about being downvoted by /r/murica, then downvoting anyone who says anything bad about SAS.
This post should be titled: r/shitamericanssay discovers r/murica, fails to realize it's satire, is not happy.
>r/Murica can't seem to decide if it's satire or not
To be fair, America has this problem too.
It is, but it's not.
What if I told you that a significant number of /r/muricans weren't even Americans?
I think it's funny that people don't realize it's 100% satire. I'm subscribed, and I love writing extremely arrogant, nationalistic things in giant, red, white, and blue letters.
It's far from the first time I've seen a circlejerk that completely forgot it was supposed to be a joke. Kind of an odd thing to happen, and yet it consistently does.
I think they have a complicated relationship with patriotism.
In their minds, sincere patriotism is something Republicans do, and there are class associations as well. Nonetheless, they find themselves in the odd (for them) position of being fond of their country. What are they to do? Overt demonstrations obviously won't do. Who do you think we are, Toby Keith? However, if you do something comically over-the-top, you can enjoy yourself in a way that's culturally yours, while simultaneously sorta-kinda pretending to lecture rural Republicans on the kind of jingoism that gets us into ill-advised wars.
In my eyes it's an outlet for repressed patriotism disguised (perhaps to its own members) as satire.
That's pretty interesting, though I don't think you're right. In fact, they're currently having a discussion of their own along these same lines, between a founder who says it's meant as a satire, and a newer member who is entirely earnest. Despite their differences, they coexist peacefully in the same subreddit. I think /r/MURICA is characterized less by repressed opinions coming out and more by a simple multiplicity of opinions. /r/MURICA is a superposition of satire and seriousness not because people incorrectly think that they're joking, but because there are two groups of people, one joking and one not. On the internet, you can't tell how serious someone is, so no one in either camp is quite certain of who agrees with them unless they declare it explicitly. This way, two groups of people with completely different opinions can coexist believing that they are among the like minded.
Of course, people are starting to notice and declare themselves either way, so the wavefunction is collapsing. I think in a few more months at most /r/MURICA will have decided to go one way or the other. However, there is something I'm missing here. Everyone there seems to enjoy the uncertainty, which doesn't completely fit with my interpretation. Thoughts, anyone?
I'm subbed and I post there from time to time and I LOVE the uncertainty of it all. Personally, I intend for my posts to be both satirical AND serious (within the context of the sub). By this, I mean: I know I'm being over the top and representing a one sided argument but that doesn't mean I'm not representing genuine thoughts and/or beliefs. I'm presenting them in an exaggerated form which could be torn to bits by people who are there to debate in seriousness (but most ppl aren't so anyone who is, is going to have a bad time).
It's kind of like the ads for Carl's Jr. in America: A scantily clad babe with huge tits eating a much-to-big for her burger; the sauce literally dripping onto her body and she licks it off herself -- everyone knows Carl's Jr. is being over the top and satirical, but everyone also loves babes and burgers.
So basically /r/MURICA became successful by being a melting pot of different peoples united by a few common ideas, but now is being divided because the new guard and the old guard are becoming increasingly angry with how they disagree on what the sub should actually stand for.
How meta.
Wouldn't both sides also benefit from knowing where the line is between pure jingoism and love of country? (which, yes, I know is mostly an American construct).
Personally, I think the uncertainty of knowing where that line should be drawn is interesting from a variety of perspectives; it's an experiment of Poe's law taken to a logical next-step in a sense.
It isn't really an American construct though, in a way it is just a slightly adapted version of "for queen and country/long live the king" which most monarchies embraced to an extent, but was particularly prolific in the British.
One could also argue the religious roots to it as well.
Huh. I thought that they were just playing along with the whole satire thing and just making fun of if for the sake of it. It is a bit odd since they do seem to go hand in hand though.
Maybe they just really have no idea what they're doing. Especially if some are going to post/brigade the other.
Bitches be trippin'
aka the /r/KarmaCourt and /r/HailCorporate syndrome.
I was sad to lose /r/HailCorporate.
Your memory must be going then because it never was satire.
Don't forget /r/pcmasterrace.
It's kind of a different thing though... PCmasterrace is PC gamers who play satirical versions themselves, but at the same time we have the facts on our side. In the end, it always comes down to preference, but objectivly speaking PC is better.
Thank you for a wonderful example of what fauxmo is talking about.
you are welcome :)
poe?
probably, but that is my impression anyways.
Pretty sure most of the people in karmacourt are dicking around. Maybe not most of the plaintiffs, but everyone else. That's what makes it entertaining.
There was a period some time ago when the subreddit's moderators were called into questioning and it was generally unpleasant. Search karmacourt in this sub.
I saw this topic pop up this morning and just knew some people who have truly descended outside of the satire category in /r/MURICA will just take personal offence at it.
I still enjoy that sub just so I can claim I'm liberating people/places and that Freedom is a quantifiable object. But it blows my mind that people don't take it as satire.
I am just waiting for their mod to pop in and say that it is both
I would like that. Just make it something like /r/pcmasterrace, where it's both a satire and an actual hangout of the same group.
SRS?
It's both! Schrodinger's satire!
I doubt it, it's satire through and through. It's just I feel for the mods there though sometimes, they just have to go into full damage control mode when they Liberate stuff.
(although when they Liberated /r/communism that was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time)
Since when are you not a mod?
From what I've seen anything that started off as satire online ends up having a non negligible portion of it's follower truly believe in it.
Smileyman's Law: Any satire sub that approaches 50,000 subscribers soon comes to resemble the thing which it satirizes.
The mods there are British and Austrailan, so I think it started as a "look how stupid Americans are" sub. Then actual Americans joined in.
The first group of Americans were mocking as well, but more in an awesomely bad way. Like Red Dawn is a terrible movie, but at the same time, it is a terribly awesome movie.
The second group of Americans were red-staters that didn't even get that it was satire.
There's a quote that's usually attributed to René Descartes (I know, quotes on the internet, so it probably wasn't him who really said it) that nevertheless feels appropriate to bring up here:
"Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they're in good company."
Or you know at any point in time, it's hard to distinguish trolls from actual crazies.
Rene has the best quotes.
I fucking love him.

I don't understand. How can you not see that /r/murica, /r/swoleacceptance, and /r/pcmasterrace are satire? The posts are full of cliches and extreme tongue in cheekness.
if you tag people in murica and pccmaster race, you'll see them in other places on reddit being less-than-satirical
I'm subbed to pcmasterrace and I have to say, it is a weird community. We're not your usual satirical circlejerk community we are a mix, we have actual discussions and posts range from satirical-discussions-real circlejerk. I'd be lieing if I said I wasn't a pc-only gamer and I use that subreddit as a light-hearted version of /r/pcgaming or /r/games. It is just a nice community to be around (Except if you have a differing opinion...)
>(Except if you have a differing opinion...)
"Unless you're a pitiful console peasant"
FTFY
I lel'd, overall its a good community that's fiercely independent. That can tend to come out as a little hostile to other subreddits.
Agreed.
Pcmaserracers especially, I see them linking that sub all over the damn place.
/r/pcmasterrace
Thanks for the great idea.
I need to check that shit out.
PC gaming is "better" than console gaming; it's honestly up to if you don't mind lower quality graphics and lack of adjustments and mods, prefer a controller (negligible nowadays), and have to have console exclusives that you should want to buy a console. That's what the subreddit is about now, but I guess it started off as a joke?
It's like arguing that a corvette is better than a ram truck
Each has advantages and disadvantages
Not really. It is like arguing that a Porsche 911 is better than a Porsche Cayman.
That depends on your definition of "better". I work in IT and "better" for me is not having to fuck with my technology when I get home to make it work properly. I get paid to do that for 8+ hours a day. I don't worry about driver compatibility/updates or application/OS issues or if I have enough RAM or hardware resources. It just works. Everytime. That's "better", IMO. But I don't go around telling people what's "better", because what is truly "better" is entirely subjective.
tl;dr stop trying to assert your opinion as fact.
Did you ever play ZoE HD Collection? That had some major fuckery going with it that people were trying to make it work even though it was a console-only release. It took months for sure, maybe even over a year, for a fix to officially be released.
I don't have to worry about drivers or application issues. RAM and processor aren't a problem unless I make them one by intentionally mucking around; and I have a 6 year-old computer. It works and it is better because I can do better with it than the consoles of the time could. I seriously doubt you are an IT professional if you're spewing this kind of peasantry.
Oh, god, yeah, that's the perfect example.
I think that's it, it started as a joke. Now a lot of people on there take it seriously making it incredibly awkward and sad
Or they have very Kauffmanesque commitment to the joke and are willing to take it into absurdity
This exatly, that's my feel for both /r/Mercia and /r/pcmasterrace.
That sub has nothing to do with Mercia!
That's how I treat it, as a sub to /r/murica and /r/muricansfw.
Jealous much?
It's because of people like you that SAS was formed. You actually believe the shit you are posting, it's hilarious and sad at the same time.
No, because your European countries will never measure up in terms of sheer manliness.
None of my responses feel right here. Not enough giant blue text.
of what?
'Murika, of course.
Either that or he somehow thinks SRD isn't popular for some reaosn.
That makes it better satire to me though because it blurs the lines even more. The harder it is the to tell, the more satirical value, IMO. Like the band Anal Cunt.
Stephan Colbert. The mere fact that I have known otherwise respectable and intelligent conservatives who aren't sure if he is satire is literally the same phenomenon as r/MURICA. Likewise, as unsettling as it is, it truly enhances his performance.
I've always found it completely ridiculous to believe there are conservatives who watch The Colbert Report and don't get that it's a joke. I thought that is just a common story that people say that has no basis behind it. You'd have to be a moron to not notice that it's satire.
There's a big difference though. Stephen Colbert is one person, it being satire or not is all down to him. Murica is a mass of people with different interpretations and intent. People not being sure whether or not it's satire isn't down to them walking a fine line of comedy, it's because for a lot of them it isn't satire, they mean it.
