Yeah, somewhere in there is a (at the moment) 45 minute old post by the user complaining about spoilers in the first place that spoils the ending of the fifth book. What the hell?

According to the majority of the people of that thread, "if its old and popular its fair game."

book came out years ago. "if you havent seen it yet, you probably werent planning to".

Why, though? The people you're spoiling it for probably don't have a horse in this race either way. So you get all indignant that someone "spoils" The X-Files and go ahead and do the same to random strangers? How does that help anyone?

It doesnt, but it hopefully shows them the stupidity in their statements "if its old and pupular its fair game..", "if you havent seen it yet, you probably werent planning too.." ect. They make totally artibrary "rules" that define that is spoiler and what "should be considered common knowldge".

It should be common curtesy, if a "spoiler"- no matter how vague or minor- it should be marked as such. instead i get 80 inflamatory replies in my inbox. So fed the flames alittle.

My point is not that those people are right, it's that you're not just spoiling it for them, but also people who might otherwise agree with you. Nobody reading that is going to think "oh, you actually make a good point," they're going to think you are a sad, sad person for spoiling the story. I just don't get why you would do this, unless you just wanted to make some random people angry out of spite or whatever.

So you're just a giant asshole, is what you're saying? Don't care about how other people feel, you got your precious sensibilities hurt, so anyone is fair game? God damn you come across as self-centered.
