One of the teams at the e-sports tournament Dreamhack Winter has used an unknown "exploit" to win a match that they almost certainly would have lost otherwise; /r/globaloffensive subscribers are salty. (self.SubredditDrama)

Some examples:
"He can see half the map. This is bullshit."
"Fuck this shit. fnatic can't win legit."
"Pathetic. This just isn't counter-strike.
"i fucking lost my last respect for fnatic, well there wasnt any left but anyways."
"this is the most disgusting shit i have ever seen".
"Fnatic is just disgusting. Fat pigs".
There was an interview post game with Devilwalk, the Fnatic coach(for the team that used the exploit), the interviewer was quite scathing. Devilwalk was very smug. Devilwalk admitted he knew about the "exploit" 2 months before the tournament. I will try to update this as more stuff happens, the drama is only just beginning.
A second thread has appeared on the front page of /r/globaloffensive: "fnatic should be disqualified - pixelwalking is illegal according to DH rules". Comments are much the same.
An admin has apparently confirmed the boost is legal.
One user decides to go against the circlejerk
"Exploit" is in inverted commas, as these "boost" spots are commonly used to get to odd or unexpected parts of maps, but never on this level, at such a high profile event. At this point I'll continue to use exploit w/o inverted commas, not because i'm biased against Fnatic but because it looks less silly.
Edit 1: This exploit was apparently posted about before but fnatic allegedly took it down
Edit 2: it's worth mentioning that csgo has an active betting scene. This adds another dimension to the anguish experienced by these salty seadogs as I'm fairly sure that the bets on the losing team, LDLC, will be not returned.
Edit 3: another pro weighs in on Twitter
A decision is pending from DHW admins.
edit before bed: currently 19/25 posts on /r/globaloffensive are regarding the exploit used by fnatic. These posts include several reports that the event admins have excluded LDLC personnel from discussion regarding the exploit, but kept fnatic management inside. More calls of corruption.
Meanwhile on /r/csgolounge (the subreddit for the main global offensive betting website), a downvote pile-on occurs when an admin explains why all bets went through immediately after the fnatic win.
Edit 5: Fnatic have forfeit the tournament. Let the circlejerk commence.

Aww boohoo. My favorite team didn't win their video game.
Edit: Haha. Even here? Where we are making fun of all the drama? People want to take the activity seriously? Geez. It's a video game. It means nothing.
To be fair, there was apparently a quarter of a million at stake. Even if you think it's just cheating in a game, it's like cheating in a game of high stakes poker.
If not in this sub, then where can I go to make fun of other subs at moments they take themselves too seriously? This is just weird; the whole argument is spilling into here. If you feel so strongly about it, go to the actual sub and argue there. Why are you even talking to me?
On the other hand, if everyone feels this is such a true big deal, why is it in /r/subredditdrama at all? It's apparently just regular ol' drama that most of you actually care about, not popcorn drama. Am I misunderstanding the whole popcorn symbolism? That's not meant to be respectful, right?
> If you feel so strongly about it, go to the actual sub and argue there.
Brigading gets you shadowbanned, so no, really don't do that.
There's definitely both kinds of drama - there are slapfights between supporters of the team who are cheating, and those who wish to call it cheating.
But you don't have to be all holier-than-thou and dismissive with your "Aww boohoo. My favorite team didn't win their video game." That just sounds like you're mocking them for liking things that you don't like.
That's your grand indictment? Yes, that is exactly what I am doing. I am mocking them. People mock people all the time; it's not inherently evil. Mocking is the whole point of this sub.
Mocking does not lead to murder or genocide. Mocking does not mean you want someone to suffer. Mocking does not even mean you wouldn't be someone's friend. Considering the subject, everyone is definitely taking this too seriously if they can't at least for a moment see the humor in me being told to "grow up" because I'm not.
> Mocking is the whole point of this sub.
Your downvotes would suggest otherwise. There's being thoroughly entertained by people getting dramatic over things, and then there's actively mocking them for it.
Most normal people don't derive their self-esteem for being nasty about people for having the crime of liking things that they don't like. If that's your gig, well, I feel sorry for you that that's the thing you feel most secure about.
Gotcha. You just want to laugh at them, not laugh at them. Makes perfect sense.
No. I want to laugh at what they say, not at them.
Seriously? You're in denial, and I'm outta here.
SRD isn't actually full of would-be bullies? OH NO! RUN AWAY!
I'm sure we'll miss you terribly.

It's a video game, sure. But when there is $250,000 on the line actions need to be taken. Grow up.
You told me to grow up! I love it.
"Grow up, kid. This is video games we're talking about here. Do you think this is a game?"
you can read a comment, good job.
As much as I bet you'd hate to hear it, people have their own hobbies and things they like to. And for the 2nd time, maybe it'll get through the lump of flesh that is your head, there is $250,000 on the line. I know you just see it as a video game, but for other people this is their life, they earn money from it. And they have a lot of fun doing so. Better than what a lot of people can say.
None of you bitching are the people involved.
??? I guess if you're good at one thing its stating really obvious facts
So do you fret over every other 250,000 dollar decision that has nothing to do with you?
Only the ones I know about. You act like $250,000 is nothing. This sort of money can affect peoples life's for fuck sakes? Stop acting like just cause you're in /r/SubredditDrama means you can act superior to others.
> has nothing to do with you?
Oh fuck me for caring about people
>It means nothing to me
FTFY
That's definitely the case. And still, I'm surprised by everyone. A bunch of folks playing video games . . . and all this emotion. Even here. Where we usually make fun of it.
250,000 prize purse, an active betting scene, and a couple hundred thousand viewers. It really isnt hard to understand, and unless you are one of those tools who go "hurr durr video gaming isnt a a real sport" theres no reason to make fun of them.
> unless you are one of those tools who go "hurr durr video gaming isnt a a real sport" theres no reason to make fun of them.
I don't think it's a sport rather than I think of it as a competitive game (like poker), and I'd treat cheating in high-stakes poker just as seriously as I'd treat cheating in a competitive video-gaming comp with a $250,000 prize at stake.
So even if you're in the "computer games aren't sports" crowd, you could still treat this seriously.
The betting I understand. If that's why you're into this, then more power to you. Are there a lot of betters in /r/SubredditDrama ?
I'd be making the same point if this were some example of cheating in a sport that caused huge drama in /r/sports but that I was then scolded for not taking seriously and making fun of in /r/SubredditDrama .
The players are pros. This is their job.
