A user identifies him/herself as a feminist and an MRA in that thread. At that point wouldn't it be more sensible to consider yourself as neither rather than both, considering the copious negative connotations they entail? Not to mention the diametrically opposed ideologies?
I mean, I understand having opinions and viewpoints that fall on both sides of the spectrum. That's an indication of a reasonable person. Why even bother throwing in with those camps at that point?

Well...that's a tough nut for me. The fact is, men's rights issues are not in opposition to feminist issues. Now, they are played against each other in an imaginary zero-sum game online, but in reality they are related. Honestly, I think the weird online rivalry distracts from real advocacy.

I wish this wasn't such a big thing. It's why I am less than excited about subs like AMR. I don't get why MRAs and some feminists online take such joy in trying to debunk each other in a zero sum game. The percentage of women who are victims of sexual assault and the percentage of homeless who are men shouldn't be statistics used as weapons to lord over your opponents in an abstract gender war. So much of this stuff online seems like it's trying to divine who has it worst. I'm not sure that is an important question to answer.
AMR wouldn't need to exist if /r/mensrights weren't so horrible.

Goodness knows we couldn't have a level-headed discussion about ideological overlap between men's rights and feminism without someone stopping by to tell us MRAs are total shit.
