Gamergate just seems like it's about Gamergate at this point. Like, talking about the movement itself instead of what they're allegedly working for. It's all meta and stuff.
I'll be honest, I've noticed that a bit too. I personally think that the press responsible for the "gamers are dead" articles, the journos on GamesJournosPro as well as the admins and mods responsible for the mass censorship on reddit and 4chan should come forward and admit what they did so we can all move forward. Instead, they insist on continuing to label GG supporters as sexists, as if the women unfairly harassed are a shield for them to hide behind.
Edit: I think I can hear myself echoing in this echo chamber. Fuck it, I'm out. I thought this sub would be a little more open-minded, but I was sorely mistaken.

cupcake1713 et al. gave out quite a few bans afterwards, mentioning also "brigades coming from external sites **cough4chancough**".
They deleted the article before it even reached 4chan. Screenshot evidence proves that the mods at /r/gaming were colluding with Quinn.

In all seriousness? Because never, in all my years of seeing serious issues on Reddit, have I seen someone express "stop downvoting lets just talk" in a genuine way.
It's usually just "How about present my opinions as fact, stonewall any outside influence or opinions, then declare I was right all along and the fact you're downvoting me proves it"
It's already not going anywhere, so usually instead of engaging I'm more than happy to just click a little down arrow that clearly bothers you, then go on with my day.
Clicking on "that little down arrow" just hampers conversation, and censors opinions that you don't agree with. I actually am curious as to why people oppose GG, and I'd actually like to hear your take on it. I just want to have a conversation. That's what reddit is for in many respects, for having conversations.
You won't get a discussion in here mate, you will just get a circlejerk. But a good reason to dislike GG is becsuse it focuses on indie games instead of the big players in the industry, focuses on people like Anita who have fuck all to do with anything, sides with some pretty shitty people and says stuff like cultural marxism and other /pol/ talking points a little to much for my liking.
I'm not pro GG, but don't bother. SRD just likes to circlejerk, if you try to say why you support GG the echo chamber will just downvote you. Every time GG is mentioned here you know 2 things are gonna happen 1) SRDD is gonna get linked 2) every other comment will be "Pro-GG = sexist/stupid/le ethics."
You can find more unbiased opinions on /r/GamerGhazi than you can on SRD.
That's without a doubt the biggest flaw with the voting system. Heck, I've had more thought-provoking discussions with people on freaking 4chan!
Interestingly enough, I was banned from /r/GamerGhazi because I said a fairly reasonable comment about TotalBiscuit's involvement in it, as well as some other things.

When they get out of their subs and really start posting, their posts look a lot like /r/conspiracy user posts with dozens of links to either questionable sources, weird info-graphics, or stuff that doesn't really quite say what they think it does.

I feel it's much too late for me to even try to understand what the fuck is going on here. I've only been pretending to know for all the other SRD posts.
I would say it's not worth delving into unless you play video games, but even then it's not worth delving into. It's really just an unfocused circlejerk at this point and no one is even sure what to focus on while they jerk.

While these issues are very important, they don't belittle any other issue. If you were fired from your job, I don't think you'd appreciate it if the benefits officer said to you "Yeah, I could give you unemployment benefits, and you're in a pretty bad place, but there's a civil war going on, and poverty and shit, so you get nothing". Just because there are other, bigger, more global issues in the world doesn't mean that issues closer to home are any less important.
