Seems a lot of people are quite divided on the whole thing these days. I honestly don't see why so many people are keen to save gawker and it's affiliates. Frankly all people should see them as a cancer on our internet.
Not liking gawker doesn't mean you support #GG, its more that trying bring down a website for shady reasons is not seen to be the best.
I'm not sure the reasons are shady, we called out one of their staff on suspicious behaviour. Which seems to be entirely true.
They then declared war on us with all their affiliates and friends, spun a bunch of lies using the press as a weapon to protect themselves. Then hounded us so hard several ex communist state members said it reminded them so much of communist propaganda they spoke out. Including one who was anti-gg.
They are behaving in an unethical and borderline illegal fashion using their press platform as a weapon while refusing discussion.
I'm afraid this is our last recourse, we practically begged for parley at the start.
Also not supporting is fine, I'm just interested in those who have with zeal lept to their defence. Considering Gawkers attitudes towards women it strikes me as odd.

What on earth does Gawker have to do with anything. I thought this whole thing started as a twitter hate campaign by assholes? Gawker may have responded and cashed in like the assholes they are, but that doesn't make them "the other side".
The "other side" of gamergaters are just normal people I thought. Same with ancaps or childfree people or something. It's a niche fringe thing that seems to require a certain amount of conspiracy theory belief. Maybe that's why as a hardcore gamer I can't get into it because conspiracy theories are pretty much the most annoying thing in the world to me.
No it started with a kotaku employee giving his friends favourable mentions, which before you say "well what good is that". Getting on steam even once especially as a new person can be career making and is very hard to do.
People went mad at kotaku (gawker affiliate) over this, then the cries of hacking and doxxing started. Then the press mostly gawker and vox media who have lots of people on the uncovered secret mailing list made up a bunch of crap and spun it insanely. Oh and Jenn Frank of the guardian helped start it too, until Al Jazeera covered the fact she donates to quinn and quinns PR agent. Who also happens to be involved with anita sarkeesian.

No I'm suggesting due to the nature of seeking out the very best in popcorn SRD would not be interested in such mild and uninteresting drama.
