I'll gamble my comment karma for the chances of -Richard- being ~~chucked~~ shadowbanned.

Wait, why? Not so sure the guy did anything that's in violation of reddit's rules.

Am I wrong? What did, or do you think, he did?

Do you mean chucked as in what happened to /u/chuckspears, or just demodded?

The former, aka what also happened to /u/KamensGhost.

Why do you think that is likely? That treatment is rare, seems to be reserved only for people who repeatedly break site rules, and is generally preceded by multiple shadowbans. Clearly a lot of people are deeply unhappy with -Richard- and his moderation at the moment, but I don't see him doing anything that is likely to get him banned from reddit, let alone permabanned. Am I missing something?

He's apparently encouraging someone to literally blow his balls. Although yeah, apparently I heard cupcake saying that they won't shadowban people for rape threats (why? I mean Wikipedia blocks editors for legal threats).

Asking someone to suck your dick in that context is not a rape threat. It's more akin to telling someone to 'get off (your) dick'; it's implying that the person is obsessed with you, and that you're offering them sex so they'll get over their preoccupation with you.

Tasteless and crude? Sure. Rape threat? No.

This is how I read it too, as scolding rather than a threat. Clearly likely (and possibly designed) to anger users, but unlikely to prompt admin intervention.

Didn't the admins already say they don't ban for rape threats? I thought cupcake said that one time.

/u/FMecha says so above. I don't recall, myself.

Wow I'm dumb. I completely missed that comment somehow. Sorry about that!

You missed the point. One of the posters in that context takes it literally - it's not exactly rape, for the guy who whined about it, it is a sexual harassment. The rape threat stuff was just for comparison.

I don't know what the craic is in America, but in Europe it has to have 'the purpose or effect of violating the dignity of a person' to be considered sexual harassment. Implying that someone's kind of obsessed with you does not, in my opinion, do that.

EDIT: And I really don't think anyone took it seriously. I'd say they probably pretended to take it seriously so they'd have something to complain about.

The guy who whined about it doesn't even know where the comment was made. They are just parroting something that someone else said to justify their outrage.
