You must be joking. Please explain to me how this is a personal attack.

Intentionally misgendering someone is a personal attack.

I didn't do it intentionally it was unintentional. Force of habit.

Taking into consideration the fact that you went out of your way to intentionally misgender Laurelai here, I'm sure you'll understand why I drew that conclusion.

The definition of Transexual is "a person who strongly identifies with the opposite sex and may seek to live as a member of this sex especially by undergoing surgery and hormone therapy to obtain the necessary physical appearance (as by changing the external sex organs)" so by definition a male transexual is a man who identifies as a woman, which is what I said. Is that wrong? Why?

Also, how do you go about determining intent in these cases, because it seems to me that's something you really can't know either way. How do you know what is going on inside my head. Maybe I slipped up and forgot to hit my "s" key. Maybe I type out all my posts in a word document and then copy paste them into the submit box and I just accidentally forgot to drag the cursor over the "s" in "she."

It's pretty simple, I give people the benefit of the doubt. Unless there's evidence that leads me to believe they did it intentionally, I assume it's accidental.

You failed to answer my first couple questions. I'm genuinely interested in your answers. I'm really confused as to the entire concept of misgendering. If somebody's biological sex is male and they identify as female, how is it possible to misgender them? It seems like either pronoun would be appropriate in that case. What is the limit of this misgendering. Is "you guys" inappropriate when referring to a mix-gender group? Is that a bannable offense?

Also, I never heard of JT3 before this thread, so I didn't really understand what gender they were until after I posted that comment. I think it's unfair to expect people to automatically know what gender a poster is. I was corrected by JT3 and I acknowledge the correction and will refer to her from now on by her chosen pronoun, out of respect.

I'm also having trouble understanding how it could be construed as an attack. What am I attacking? And how? If somebody referred to me as "she" I couldn't say that I would feel "attacked" I would just acknowledge that person made a mistake or perhaps is trying to get my goat and move on.

I looked around that thread and I found a couple cases of "personal attacks" by JT3

Here JT3 makes a personal attack against Laurelai, implying that her actions are as a result of being spurned. That's pretty personal, and can easily be interpreted as having intent to demean or belittle Laurelai and her feelings.

Here JT3 makes a snide slight which I have interpreted as a personal attack against me. I think that the word sib is short for sibling, and I find it personally insulting for her to imply that we are closely related. I'm still waiting for her explanation of the word, but until I hear her side of the story I'm just going to assume that her intent was malicious, just has you have of me here. She also sarcastically says "sorry you're having trouble understanding." I suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder, and all my life people have mocked me in a similar sarcastic way when I had difficulty focusing on subjects in school. I find her sarcastic snide remarks personally insulting and demeaning, and I demand that she be warned in a similar manner as I have been.

Edit: I was correct, she was sarcasticly calling me her sibling which deeply offends me on a personal level and I take it as a direct attack on me. Where is the warning for JT3, since we've already determined that the application of the personal attack rule does not depend on intent but rather the perception of intent on a 3rd party. I feel slighted and attacked. Please enforce subreddit rules fairly and equally, that is your responsibility as a moderator.

What about me? You never gave me any second chances or the benefit of doubt. I broke my heart for you time and time again, letting you in, helping you, loving you, and you never gave me a second glance.

Are you so blind and cruel that you care more about strangers on the internet than you do myself?

Every word you wrote used to feel warm and loving; now they just feel empty.

Your draconian enforcement of nonsensical rules in a manner biased towards specific individuals and against other legitimate opinions is disturbing to me. As is your inability to directly answer any of my questions or really justify yourself at all. I really think that the definition and application of this "personal attacks" rule is too broad. I think you're trying to use it to silence one kind of opinion in favor of another.

Also, you are moderating a sub that is basically dedicated to making fun of people. The rule is again nonsensical in that context. I think I and the rest of the subs to this subreddit really deserve some answers.

I was just personally attacked by another user in SubredditDrama.

/u/TAKEitTOrCIRCLEJERK just said

>"Oh Jesus, you're a goddamned idiot."

Which is about as clear a personal attack as you can get. Also they clearly didn't read my post at all, but that's besides the point.

In what way are you expecting your smorgasbord of stock internet comments to affect me? I'm genuinely curious.
